Great 'proper pub feel', log fire, good choice of real ales always. Very good upstairs restaurant and generally good bar meals. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is the limited vegetarian or even vegan meal options. There are some but could do with more main meal options.

February 2018: The best urban oasis this side of the Gobi desert! Always a strong selection of great beers for all tastes. Scrummy, very reasonably-priced bar food. Try legendary PIE NIGHT on Mondays, among other established culinary routines. TWO fires! Vicki and her friendly staff do a great job. Once you go in, there's no point in ever going home... especially in this Siberian weather.

Lovely friendly warm pub. Although a locals pub you are so welcome. Fantastic homely food at a fantastic price. Restaurant....weĺl go and experience. Location unusual but well worth a visit any day of the week. You won't be disapointed. Oh and dog friendly in the bar. Good job I don't live in walking distance.

Not a bad real ale pub . But please don't bother going in with kids under 5 you will most likely be shunned at stared at by what amount to some very arrogant locals. Kids are only welcome in the lounge but even if the tap room is empty and the lounge is full of adults you will most likely be made to stand In the middle of the room amongst the yapping dogs while everyone burns a hole in your head.... apart from that not a bad pint.
