Food and service was phenomenal! Was out a day trip and glad I stopped by. Staff where professional and made me feel welcome. The chefs have talent and the scenery speaks for its self! Highly recommend! My new favourite place!
If there were a picture in the dictionary next to "excellent service" you would see a picture of this place with the manager Leigh in the foreground. A waiter saw I was looking at basketball and decided to strike up a conversation, nothing invasive just enough to feel welcome. On top of this the food is lovely. And as you can see from the pictures, the theme is Carried throughout, with the marina in the background and subtle hints that you are indeed in "the boat house". Strongly recommend.
Lunch at the Boat House, perfect after a champagne cruise highly recommended. Staff were lovely and coped well with a dietary restriction. We ordered a couple of starters and mains as well as drinks. Came to £104 including service for three. Food was very slow to come out despite the restaurant being nowhere near full. The pigeon breast starter was cold and tough. Tenpora veg was delicious but the pizza was really nothing to rave about. Come for the views of the loch and lovely atmosphere. Staff very friendly and attentive but really let down by the food
The location is wonderful, menu is also very nice, not as expensive as the other restaurants of cameron house. Always try to book in advance the views from the restaurants are amazing. The Staff is also very nice, there are couple of main car parks of Cameron house in the beginning, you don't need to park there, there is dedicated parking right besides the boat house.
Really didn’t enjoy myself at the Boat house. Service was very poor, staff were all over the place and we waited 1+ hour for our mains. On to the food, i ordered a truffle macaroni with prawns, the truffle was so overpowering and extremely rich,it was such a let down. I also ordered the pigeon starter and it was overcooked. Listen if the food was up to scratch and at a high quality I wouldn’t mind waiting a tad longer, to wait that amount of time and receive the quality of food/service really spoiled the night. Also not a fan of restaurants adding service charges on to bills. It essentially forces people who don’t like conflict or have anxiety to accept this charge 20%, really hate this American concept. 20% is pretty steep
We struggled to understand the bad reviews?! Such a great place and the location is amazing! The weather was dry so we ate on the balcony and the staff we very warm and welcoming throughout. The fish and chips were outstanding too! Thank you for playing a part in our honeymoon! We won’t forget our trip to the boathouse!
Good food, good service. I realise this sounds crazy, but the main reason I’m giving this place 5 stars is because the staff member who was doing the cleaning made the place look unbelievable! I have never seen toilets so clean anywhere in the world. Every surface was sparkling and everything in its right place. It’s not only the food and the service which customers remember, but the way a place is presented and maintained. In this climate of staff shortages, I hope this very valuable staff member gets the recognition she deserves. She does a phenomenal job!
Though this establishment is undoubtedly not an average restaurant, unfortunately a few things let it down. We visited as a group on a business trip. The building is well decorated and nicely laid out with open kitchen. However we were seated to our table late and then not served for a long time, and very infrequently checked on or served. Having booked for 8pm we did not receive our mains until around 10.15pm which is honestly unacceptable. Food was good but not amazing. There were several items unavailable or limited on the menu. And several mistakes were made with our food, including the omission of one starter and two main dishes. The bill was also incorrect, by quite a significant amount, and most staff had gone home before we were given the bill and seen out, which did not feel very professional. Could be a great restaurant but a lot of work to do with service, probably needing an increase in staff numbers, improved focus on timing and so on.
Like other reviewers pointed out, the location was beautiful but the service and wait time completely unacceptable. Waited over an hour for mains, staff were unhelpful and the portions were tiny, completely over seasoned and unjustifiable prices. Left irritated and hungry. The location is beautiful and the exteriors are great , but until they get their teams working better this place is completely a miss.
Would leave no stars if I could. Ordered fish and chips and the fish was still cold and the peas were cold. Absolutely disgusting. Said to the staff & they offered us half price off the fish and chips but never thought to offer a replacement meal as the fish was clearly not cooked properly.
