Beautiful seafood restaurant right on the waterfront in South Queensferry. Lovely minimalist interior but has large wall to wall windows with view of the bridge. The menu felt a bit limited, but the specials made up for it. The mussels are excellent, you could tell they were fresh and the taste was great. Seafood linguine special was also delicious-perfectly cooked langoustines and tasty sauce. The seafood starter wasn’t anything special, but was still nice for the price. Fish and chips were glorious. Definitely a lovely place if you want some decent seafood in a prime location. The craft beers on offer were also a nice change from the norm.
Fantastic view- reasonable prices for the quality and taste of the food. Atmosphere was calm and pleasant. Salmon risotto- very well seasoned, creamy, and delicious fresh salmon Pork-belly with seasonal veggies was also very juicy and well seasoned. Not as many vegetarian options as one would hope, however there was some. Would definitely recommend and planning to go back.
What a lovely lunch. A great table, looking out at a panoramic view of the three bridges, as well as the harbour. There is also seating outside, but it was a little too windy today late March The three course meal we had was top quality. Well presented and off good proportions. Service was quick and friendly. No hovering, just aware of where we were in the meal. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Both for the location, quality of food, and service. I wish I had taken pictures of the food... enjoying it so much I forgot to.
Excellent food in a nice atmosphere. We managed to sit outside as the weather was great. Enjoyed lovely fresh seafood dishes. Highly recommended.
What a hidden gem, we had just walked the Forth Bridge and them made our way into the town to have a look. Luckily we found the boat house where the food was superb, the staff excellent and the views stunning. A must visit if in the area, it’s just really really good.
Second time we were visiting the Boat House because the food was so so good the first time around. Once again the food was spectacular. Scallops,. Black pudding, langoustines... All top quality and very fresh. The views from outdoor tables are unique. The place was fairly busy and one of the staff was visibly stressed but it didn't take away any of the experience. Thank you!
What a lovely position to sit and have dinner overlooking the iconic Forth Rail bridge. We had an early dinner at 5pm so saw the bridge in brilliant sun light and then later, lit up against the dark sky. They have indoors and outdoor seating and although we sat indoors, we felt like we were almost sitting in the beach. Our meals were served quickly, nicely presented and really tasty. Some people came just for coffee but the restaurant was too busy to serve them so i would suggest either booking first or not going during main meal times. I personally think they should have served them but maybe told them they had to vacate their table by a certain time. The restaurant is down stairs from the High Street so not suitable for disabled guests. Parking is very limited on the high street with parking meters but there is a small free car park at The Binks, just 5mins walk away.
My friend and I were looking for somewhere we hadn't been before with an interesting menu and decided on The Boat House. At first glance, the menu looked very good, with all the things we both loved, so we had high hopes. These hopes were dashed when our starter of oysters came out. Both plates of 6 oysters had some very small and not very appealing oysters. We both had to leave a couple to be safe, which was a real shame. On top of this, we both found multiple pieces of shell while eating them. The mignonette was OK, but the shallots and beetroot were very chunkily cut without much care or precision. We also didn't get lemon with our oysters and had to signal the waitress to ask for some. As we were paying £15 each for the privilege of eating these oysters, we felt a little hard done by. For mains, I had the pork belly, which I had been looking forward to since reading the menu. Sadly, I was disappointed again. Despite being presented very well, beauty was only skin deep here. The pork belly was tough and would have benefited from a few more hours low and slow to render out that fat. The pulled pork bon bon and the mac n cheese croquette were rather underseasoned, and the "pea puree" seemed to just be blitzed up mushy peas. The carrots seemed to dominate the plate, and I felt a little let down with the amount of pork belly on offer. My friend had a scallop dish that was on the specials menu and was also disappointed. Underseasoned and unfortunately overcooked was the verdict, and also a rather minimal portion for the price. For dessert, we opted for the sticky toffee pudding and were pleasantly surprised there. It was the "highlight" of the meal, if we were to find one. I doubt we would return, which was a real shame. However, the views were beautiful, and the restaurant was lovely. They may just need a shake-up in the kitchen. Parking: Parking was not ideal, it's a narrow street and there is very little on street parking without driving a fair bit down the road.
Not sure if it's due to Covid-19, but we were given a box with out cutlery, napkins and salt and pepper sachets scattered on top, to set our own table for both courses we had . Starters arrived. The sharing Nachos, was small for the money but tasty. We also shared the squid starter and everyone that had taken a squid ring was really ill before we even got home. Only 2 of us escaped the throne of doom with our own versio of squit-ring! Mains were good, but we felt overpriced for what they were. We didn't stay for a pudding as we felt £8 for a small slice of cheesecake wasn't worth it, plus some of us were starting to feel a tad unwell. Ladies loos are dark but clean. The views over the Forth are fantastic. Wouldn't go back.
Great expectations that were mostly not fulfilled. Service was nice and quite fast. The food seemed more exciting on the menu than it actually was. The fish curry was superb and also the dish we liked the most! This dish would definitely be worth full marks! The gourmet wagu burger was accompanied by a proper serving of fries which were pretty good. The burger itself was rather small and lacked something refreshing to balance the meat. And now about the Ramen Soup with fish. The eggs were overcooked. The broth lacked depth and the added acidity was more reminiscent of vietnamese pho than a rich ramen broth. The small serving of noodles did not pick up the soup very well and seemed bland. The only good part was the fish and the vegetable toppings. For the price we definitely expected more. The one dish I can recommend is the fish curry. Wheelchair accessibility: Not very accesible - dining area is only reached via stairs
