We went for a nice walk and arrived here. Nice warm decor and welcoming staff, great place for a drink. The food was pleasant, for similar meals we have paid less. Chips were very nice, I did enjoy the veggie lasagne though some of the salad was on the turn see picture, my friend felt the chilli could have had more heat.
Excellent service by the whole team, but especially by our waitress Billie. She couldn’t do enough for us and was extremely helpful. The food was fantastic, good quality, well priced and good portion sizes.
Wow, what a welcome and incredible food. The place was really busy, we hadn't booked, but a table was found. The front of staff were so welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We had the steak from the specials board, which was served with tomatoes, mushrooms macaroni cheese and chips. The steak had been cooking for hours. The taste was amazing and the knife slid through the steak like butter. We had the beef dripping gravy as a side, which was delicious. Portions are huge. Cannot recommend this place enough. It was our first visit and will definitely return
Used to be one of our favourite local country pubs with amazing food. Today we were greet by a very unhappy waiter who looked like was working there as a punishment. He took us to the table and left for over 10 minutes without asking anything and not even looking at us. After that time we just decided to go to another local place. Really shame as we really enjoyed your food and service in the past..
Went with Grandchildren to celebrate husband's birthday. He asked for two of the meals on the menu both were unavailable. I had a pie which was great unfortunately the mash with it had a crust on top as though it had been kept under a lamp or something similar. Also very long wait for food. Hopefully this was a one off .
2nd visit and again didnt disappoint. Booked a table that morning for Sunday lunch, service and staff was second to none. Booked 2 courses and both were delicious. Opted for the mixed meat main which included Turkey, beef & gammon...served with roast potatoes, huge homemade Yorkshire pudding, stuffing cube & roasted parsnip. Piping hot and so tasty. Vegetables served in a tureen which was cooked to perfection and very enjoyable. Cleared the plate but was too full for dessert. Place soon filled up and when we left the staff were running round trying to accommodate and help customers. Very professional and courteous staff. 10/10 for it all, will definitely be returning
Lovely pub. Friendly and helpful staff. Disappointed with meal. Please revert to thick home made chips, rather than those thin pale looking chips. Also bit more salad would be nice. Encourage healthier Eating
We love this pub. Just had an absolutely lovely dinner for three, with a very attentive fuss made for the Birthday Lady. Children friendly, dog friendly, lovely cosy fire. Just a charming warm pub and restaurant. Food is lush and the staff are so friendly and accomodating. Keep doing what you're doing, it's the best place around! Thank you x
Lovely local pub. Very friendly and helpful, but unfortunately the vegetarian food option is horrendous. I ordered 2 Moving Mountain veggie burgers for £12 each. What you get is an oversized sesame bun oversized as the burger patty is the size of a small child's hand, one slice of processed cheese and a hint of burger sauce. Served with this little bit of burger is a tiny bit of coleslaw and a handful of fish shop tasting greasy chips. I do not know how the rest of their food is, but if you are vegetarian do not try this, as the moving mountain certainly doesn't move any mountains
Great food and staff but when I booked I said I was bringing a dog and then our table was a high table where dogs weren't allowed. Luckily someone hadn't turned up so we could be moved. Shame because it would have been 5 stars
