Great place to stop with the family. Endless selection of Apple products. Fresh produce, baked goods, maple syrup, honey, ciders and more. The hot serve food is great. Everything is made in house and fresh as can be. The Reuben sandwiches are done just right. Disappointed the rides weren't on a Saturday?? The mini putt is lame and needs a facelift. The Big Apple was cool. It was neat learning there was an inside. The 1st level and the observation deck are cool but the middle level is missing someone. It needs some sprucing up. The overall valued experience here is good
We always stop by the big Apple on our way in or out of town. Easy to locate, usually pretty busy place with lots and lots of items to purchase most are Apple based like pies and breads but other food items as well. You are able to see them prepare items in the factory and enjoy a variety of different treats. Not the cheapest place most items are on the expensive side but always a good place to stop.
If you're on the road and need a break, this place is an absolute gem. The restrooms are always clean, which is a big plus. You’ll find plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained, from shopping for food to indulging in a variety of sweet treats and desserts. The Dutch apple pie with custard is a must-try—it's fantastic! I can say they're definitely worth it here. For families with kids, there’s a free petting zoo, a kids' train ride, and other fun attractions that my nephews loved. The ample parking makes it easy to stop by, and you can't miss it with the big apple sign welcoming you. Highly recommended for a refreshing break and some fun!
This is the typical local activity from Ontario, perfect stop on your way or return trip Quebec - Toronto. We purchased several apple cakes and they were all delicious, from the traditional, to the crumble and the other one that has some coconut surprisingly very moist - you can taste the cinnamon. Even if you don’t like cinnamon it still tastes good. They sell various local products, honey, apple cider vinegar, jams, hot sauces, etc. The washrooms there are large but always smelly. We never got a chance to see the other food stands but they seem to have nice lunch food outside. Very nice little cute park. With an access to go inside the Big Apple. Pet friendly & large free parking. Often busy even close to the end of day. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp at the entrance. And another easy access at the back after cashier to go out to the park on your left vs right that has stairs
A great attraction on the 401. To begin with, one does not need to go too far off of the highway to get to this place. In fact, it can be seen from the highway itself, including the huge apple that smiles at you as you're passing by. Inside, this place is pretty well laid out, with shelves stocked with items that one doesn't expect to see anywhere else. Most of what's available here, be that a food item or a souvenir, seem to have a touch of what this place represents -- the Big Apple. Notable attractions here include a wide variety of apple pies from the bakery, the apple cider from the brewery, and the assortment of candies, to mention only a few. And if one needs to whet one's appetite with a scrumptious meal, the Smokehouse Kitchen is always there. For fun outside, there are the mini golf course, the petting zoo, and the train, amongst others -- and, of course, the huge apple that is the landmark of the place. Most importantly, this is a place where one can get to spend an enjoyable time, either with friends or family. And lastly, this place has ample parking.
Best apple pie everrrrrrr!!! Made fresh daily from scratch & sold on premises. Huge glass views directly into the bakery. Ice cream to die for. Food was a bit salty & pricey but good. All around good time.
As many people - as many thoughts... With these words, I would like to begin the description of the "Big Apple" In itself, it's a great place to take a break while traveling Ontario Hwy401. Here you'll find lots of apple crafts and more, see the apple pie process, a petting zoo, and finally get to take some photos with a giant apple as a keepsake . Great atmosphere, all products look so tempting, tasty and appetizing, that encourages the visitor to buy as many products as possible . This is exactly what happened in our case, we collected everything and a lot, but not all products lived up to our hopes and expectations. To be honest, the apple pie didn't taste as good as expected, and the pecan cluster was a waste of money in my opinion . I would like to note that everyone has different tastes and preferences! But we really liked Apple Wine , Honey and Maple products. So, in conclusion, I would like to add that although we fell into this tourist trap, we do not regret at all that we stopped and visited this wonderful, atmospheric place.
On our drive back to Montreal from Toronto, we made a pit stop at this popular spot, which also serves as a coach tour bus stop. The place was bustling with visitors, but we managed to bring home delicious apple pie - though we wished we'd opted for the larger size. It's a great place to pick up souvenirs, and kids will love the entertainment options like the carousel and putting ground/zoo. Food trucks, bazaar-like stores are also available on site. Our only suggestion would be to add more shade to the picnic area, as it can get quite hot during the summer. Nevertheless, this is a great detour to break up the long drive on the 401. Kid-friendliness: Definitely a place for kids. So many fun things to keep kids entertained.
The rest stop reminded us of South of the Border near South Caroline, US. The stop offers everything from fresh produce and baked goods to a free petting zoo. There are also 2 level 2 EV chargers. Easy on/off access to the main road.
It's a fun place to stop by.. Everytime we travel East and coming home, we always visit this place.. pick up apple crumble pie or any apple products. Kids enjoy the mini zoo. The outdoor area has places to sit and relax. And during apple season you can see fresh apples from trees. Food are great. And staff are nice. Parking are free. Weekends are always busy specially summer time.
