Just a quick visit at lunchtime after walking our dogs at Chalfield.nNice pint of Westons cloudy cider but had to settle for a fizzy drink as no elderflower . A simple snack menu displayed on a chalk board was available. We chose to share a cheese and ham baguette, which was freshly made with nice ham and granted cheddar served with chunky chipsnAll costing less than £20
Lovely pub, dog friendly, good choice of real ale and other drinks, Sunday Roast very tasty and good value with decent portion sizes. The staff and locals were very friendly. Would definitely recommend.
We visited for a drink and I dropped my glass on the floor, the landlord and landlady took it in good spirits and we had a laugh about it, then I left my bag behind and they looked after it for me. We went the following day for a family Sunday roast which was absolutely delicious! The staff here are friendly with a good sense of humour and it’s a straight forward proper pub.. We would definitely return when we are back in the area., thank you!
Absolutely incredible! The Bell on The Common served us the best food we could have asked for for our first pub trip in a year. We had the ham, egg and chips, the chicken supreme and the sea bass plat du jour for today and they were all exceptional! Staff were friendly and efficient and they’ve got a marquee outside. Definitely coming back!
My visit with sister in law on a Tuesday, was a disaster. It would be better not to offer food at the beginning of the week, if you will not heat the pub or put the lights on. ‘Due to cost’. Especially as you have a very dangerous step down in the middle of the room, with no warning apart from a rather grubby white strip.nit should be lit or have a notice. Luckily I was shot across the lower room as I suddenly went down quite a steep step,, falling, but managed to save myself and not fall right down on the floor but hit chairs and tables. We complained it should be marked but got no sympathy, This was followed by a rather unpleasant conversation with a not very sympathetic lady.nMy bruises prove otherwise! This should be reported.
