The Bell Inn is a fantastic pub to stop by after or before a visit to Castle Combe. I can't even begin to express how grateful we were to this pub. We were stuck in traffic longer than we expected that day and needed a place to eat. We were exhausted, annoyed and hungry. They took us in even though we had no dinner reservations for a Friday evening. The front Lady was so kind, mindful and patient. The table we sat at was perfect, in a quiet area of the pub but we could still see the hustle and bustle.nnNow, the food was a whole experience in itself. We ordered the Chicken Paris and the Steak and Ale Pie. First of all, it was delicious! One plate is a lot of food no complaints here as it comes with either salad or vegetables and you can choose one out of 3 options of potato side dishes. Starting with the Pie: I have never seen a puff pastry so high, flaky and tasty in my whole life. Even after a couple of bites, the pastry was standing high up. The steak was prepared with a bitter ale which complemented the buttery taste of the pastry. An absolute pleasure to eat. The chicken had this sauce that we had never tasted in our lives. We drenched every potato and vegetable in this sauce because it was an experience. There was not a single drop left of the sauce after we ate. The bacon was crunchy and the chicken was moist. The potatoes were super tasty and vegetables were steamed to perfection: not mushy while holding some crunchiness.nWhen we paid our bill, the front lady was once again very welcoming and we can't thank the servers, cooks and her enough for their hospitality and outstanding service to us: a Californian couple very far from home.nnWe would not drive back to see Castle Combe, but we would take a 10 hour flight and a drive to the Cotswolds just to eat here again.
Fantastic Easter Sunday Roast. Considering how busy they were the service was brilliant.nNever been disappointed with our meals here. A really lovely friendly village pub and our dog is made very welcome too.
We went as a group of colleagues for a social/business meal. It’s a quaint little pub in the middle of the village. Loved the fireplace which made for a cozy atmosphere. The staff were lovely. We had a warm welcome, seated immediately, had our drinks within 5-10 minutes, and food service was very quick. Lots of choice on the menu. I went for the scampi which was superbly cooked. My colleagues all ordered different dishes including steak, moray, and cod. All of them commented on how good the food was. We didn’t have room for dessert, which I’m sure would’ve been great too!
We stopped here for dinner last night. What a fabulous place! Wonderful service, decent menu and beautiful food. It was well presented, efficiently served and generous portions. We had a lovely time and it’s a great building too with a lot of atmosphere and history. We really were impressed. I had Thai fishcakes - fantastic, taste, lovely seasoning and not too much potato. The roulade dessert was just fabulous too, delicious texture and wonderfully light.
Must visit place if you come nearby. All member of staffs are friendly.nFoods was amazing. nDo not go Castle Combe village pubs. The bell Inn is just drive 5min away. Worth to spend this 5mins. Trust me.nActually we tried to find the seat from two pubs in the village. Sadly, one of the place in the village didn't have a seat.
