Lovely setting historic coaching Inn. Very nice room. Lovely ambience food was exceptional really good beer. The best part were the staff a real credit, professional but very friendly and welcoming. Would recommend this place. Sadly had only booked for one night on route to Kent. Will definitely be booking a longer stay if down this way again. Food & drinks: I had lamb, my wife had beef both meals were superb best quality food I've had in a long time in a hotel. Compliments to the chef.
We have had an amazing weekend at the Bell. The staff were so helpful nothing was too much trouble. The food was outstanding some of the best cooked meals we've had.The rooms were clean and comfortable with plenty of quality tea ,coffee etc . The actual hotel was wonderful, full of history. The knowledgeable staff love the place and were able to tell us all about it. This has been the best weekend break a huge thanks to all at The Bell. Food & drinks: Great selection and well cooked. The blade of beef melted in the mouth and Tasted delicious.
No problems at all. I had reason to stay over mid week and booked a lovely double room with breakfast. I arrived reasonably late 9pm-ish but a welcome arrival and time for a drink in the bar. Had a great sleep, refreshed shower and tasty breakfast. The car park at the rear is a little tight for parking but that’s common in a lot of places. I’d stay here again as it’s very pleasant, handy for cheese and the A1M/Peterborough
Simply put: phenomenal. My favourite restaurant in the whole area. Great food, really great. Beautiful architecture, the building is outstanding. Polite staff. 10 out of 10 every time I've been.Rooms: 5/5
I delightful hotel, with very friendly and attentive staff, generally highly recommended, sadly with 2 exceptions. Firstly the steps from the car park to the building entrance were savage, so can't recommended for anyone with a disability. Secondly, although the breakfast was excellent, the sunday lunch was very poor. Stay there and find a cheap gastro pub to eat, you'll get better food at half the price. Shame really, as the hotel itself and staff were lovely! Rooms: Excellent rooms, good firm mattress and the radio playing quietly when we first entered was a nice touch. Food & drinks: Breakfast was good, bar well stocked. Sunday lunch however was very poor. Stay there, just don't eat there :-
Were we were not dressed well enough? Initially, the young bar person welcomed us when we asked for a lunch table for 2. There appeared to be many empty tables. We were looked at by another member of staff at the back of the bar whilst he went to check. Then he returned from the kitchen and said in a most embarrassed tone, no. Many of the diners were in suits/ dressed up formally. We had stopped because it looked pretty. At another pub we said we had tried there first, and they showed no surprise. We had an excellent lunch there instead.
My wife and I have used this pub as an alternative to Peterborough Services for years. This time, just me - but my meal and the service I received were faultless. I thoroughly recommend The Bell for anyone who wants to use their break from the road to relax rather than exchange the road for another frenetic experience. Food & drinks: Excellent, chef cooked meals.
We stopped off for lunch at the Bell to break our journey back from Yorkshire, had an excellent lunch in this historic establishment in what is now a quiet main road. With easy parking and great cooking makes for a restful break from driving before tackling the motorway for the remaining leg of the journey home. Food & drinks: We had slow cooked shoulder of Lamb for lunch followed by Apple and frangipane tart. Excellent cooking and friendly service
Had a couple of little niggles with the room but soon got them sorted out. Fantastic and friendly staff. Food is absolutely delicious couldn't fault it. Very popular pub/restaurant/ hotel. Will definitely be making a return visit, fantastic hospitality, well done everyone Stuart & Dorn Felixstowe
Very pleasant and easy to get to place, just off A1M. Good variety of food options on the menu and decent portion sizes. We all mostly had a burger with another on the beef dish and all were great. Desserts finished it off well with the sticky toffee pudding being the pick of the bunch! As a participant of "Dry January", while others were on beer and wine, I had a selection of non-alcoholic beers.
