Cute place to stop for some lunch and lovely being sat right on the rocks. Had the crab sandwich, filling was great. Super tasty and juicy. Think it was let down by the choice of white bread, for £11 you'd expect something of better quality.
We found it by chance last year on our holiday. It was an amazing find, best crab sandwiches ever. Lovely staff. If you want the crab you have to get there early. Can't wait to go back next year. Parking: We had to park on the road going into Ventnor as there is no parking for the Beach Shack. Even so it is well worth the walk which is down Steep hill cove. Wheelchair accessibility: There isn't any wheel chair access. The only way as far as I know is down steps or a steep slope.
Nice location tucked down at the cove. A sandwich and soup based lunch time menu does the job but nothing spectacular. Limited opening times and popular on a sunny day might mean you have to wait a bit on the beach or take a quick dip. No music, but I expect that is so it does not annoy the neighbors. Service best described as cold. In fact for nice friendly service, large portions of chips, sandwiches etc you are much better off going to the nice cafe at the other end of the cove! They too have a nice terrace...and a smile!!! Can't park nearby, but can anchor in the cove...watch the rocks!
Absolutely beautiful place for a spot of lunch prawn and Crab salad s one of if not the most picturesque places on the island, no crab left when we went but depending on catch going back next year got to have Crab
Great location, busy little cove with a few different businesses offering meals, kayak hire, pasties and drinks. The Beach Shack is great - excellent crab salad and sandwich. Generous portions. Efficient and pleasant service. Good choice of items on the menu. Lovely sitting out overlooking the bay. Combined with a visit to Ventnor botanic gardens, a very fine day out!!

This beach front cafe is a must for all visitors to Ventnor - to the Isle of Wight even. Great food, wonderful staff, and the view... I've been here on hot sunny days with calms seas and the sound of children playing in rock pools, and I've been here on stormy days with waves crashing again the cage wall - glorious! I can definitely recommend the egg sandwiches. And the crab soup. And the Caesar salad. And the cakes. They take card now too
Wonderful place for lunch! Crab sandwiches were so fresh and delicious and staff were very friendly and attentive. Also made my little dog very welcome! Would definitely return, just can't beat that view!
The Beach Shack is set in an a beautiful location and on a lovely day you can't beat it. However the welcome was not warm and the food was standard for the price with a long wait. Disappointing ending of a beautiful walk.
