Great friendly pub off the beaten track in the middle of the countryside. As soon as we walked in we were greated with a friendly welcome. Plenty of drinks to choose from and the prices were very good. Lots of seating inside and ample seating outside with views over the countryside. Will definitely visit again and try the food. My only slight grumble is the car park could be a little bigger. But apart from that, excellent pub.
Great pub with ample indoor and outdoor seating...even got free treats / toys for pooches! Really good menu including main meals and light bites. We'll stocked range of drinks. And for cricket fans...its a real must ! Very influential in the development of cricket.
Great Country Pub with history and good service. Came here on my birthday a few weeks back, highly recommend and food is delicious! Will come again
Lovely meal on the tables behind the pub with amazing views over the countryside. Great history as the birthplace of cricket! Good selection on the menu and a kids menu ... although the chips weren't great I'm just not a fan of double / triple cooked chips - seem like re-cooked leftovers, but not enough to lose a star! Also amazing atmosphere inside the pub with all the cricket memorabilia. Would thoroughly recommend.
Interesting very historic pub to visit, home of a 1700s famous cricket club. Had a nice fire going, stopped by for a cozy drink. They're food menu looked good but we didn't eat there.
Nice decor and lots of cricket memorabilia. Food excellent and staff all pleasant. Quick service. Well done all staff and chef. My fish was delicious.
The garden has beautiful views; the food is always good; and the staff are very accommodating. The pub is dog friendly but also very clean. Great stop after a walk in the countryside. For the best dining experience, book early - I think the kitchen closes around 8pm most days, slightly later on weekends.
Visited twice wirhin couple of days, with sister and her partner. Lovely spot with rear views over the downs. Known primarily though for marking spot of birthplace for cricket...makes it worthier in itself. I'm always sceptical of pubs with large dining extensions to rear...ok, shows that they are popular, but these 'add ons' often tend to be exactly that, 'add ons' with no character and atmosphere akin to the main traditional building - and come with a poor service to boot where they are over stretched. common on Sundays! In fairness, can't say that here. Fairly, pleasant ambience in back section too. Service welcoming and food generally high quality. Pork belly dish yes delicious with 'tandori' starter better still. My second meal, cottage pie, not quite to same standard but companions enjoyed their roasts which looked fine. Crumbles for dessert lovely too. Yes, prices fairly high but worth visit. Overal excellent, esp. compared to many alternatives Didnt get shot of rear view as getting dark but only of 'specials' board...note the cricket bats! X
Our experience was absolutely first class…our starters and main were very delicious and the portions on both were generous and very tasty. Many thanks to Jake and Rachel who attended to our needs, which made our first visit to the Bat and Ball a great experience! Well worth the visit and well worth the price too. We’ll be back! Thank you! Steve/ Cheryl From Bermuda
