We had a father's day lunch. The food was lovely. The Sunday roast was perfect. The chicken was soft and tasty. The customer service is excellent. We will definitely return again. We had a wonderful afternoon sitting outside in the sun eating our delicious meal.
Great spot to enjoy some food and drinks with friends and family. We came for lunch, with a young one and the staff were attentive enough to offer a high chair before we even managed to ask for one. The food was amazing, we had the two fish dishes. The trout was the standout but the stone bass with mussels was a close second. The interior is lovely and this place will be heaving in the summer, no doubt so make sure you book a table.
The menu is more extensive than most pubs. The current summer menu had many fish and seafood dishes.
All good! First time here despite it being almost around the corner for us. Decided to come after colleague thoroughly recommended it! Well, I need to thank her!nnFood is absolutely divine. We had:nStarters:nFish soup - tasted like mackerel or sardines. I’m a fan although my son and husband aren’t because it’s too fishy for them. It’s yummy for me!nBaked chestnut mushrooms - delishnMuscat Pumpkin risotto - warm your cockles!nMains:nSteak - cooked to perfection as requested although they don’t cook rare just medium rare onwardsnSea bass - divine!!nDuck leg, dauphinoise potatoes - potatoes are divine. Duck leg is slow-cooked whip means it was a bit just so-so. But that’s just me. But still delicious!nnI would also recommend the apple and ginger mocktail as it’s super refreshing.nnCost - quite standard for gastropub. It is worth what you pay for.nnLocation - great for locals and you’ll need a car. Nothing really interesting around it. You can bring your dog in to the pub bit. Saw a few. If you have allergies it might not be for you. There is outside seating as well.nnService - gentleman in charge looked a bit cold but he sorted us out with the bill and was lovely if you speak to him. So don’t be put off. It was also super busy. All the other youthful staff are much more engaging and professional than a lot of others in other establishment like the Oatlands Chaser we went to a few nights ago so well done to the team!! nnDo I recommend? Yes - and I would come back again especially if on the way to or back from Saville Gardens/Windsor Park.
Mixed reviews from us, ideally 2.5 stars.nnMy partner had the risotto, which she enjoyed. Our boy had the burger which was also good.nnI had the lamb Sunday roast. The lamb itself was tasty. However, they were out of roast potatoes... so I had to have roasted 'new' potatoes, which were a gritty... Also, there was nowhere near enough gravy.nnThe cheesecake received a positive review from the boy. I wanted to order sticky toffee pudding, but it had also sold out... 4pm ish so I had the crumble. It was good, but not enough ice-cream came with it, so it was a bit dry.nnIn addition, I ordered a half pint of cider and received a pint. The waiter agreed with me that I should only pay for a half pint... then billed me for a pint, which I paid for out of his tip no tipnnI would try the Barley Mow once more, but they would need to do better...
