Excellent food and service both to eat in and takeaway. Always order from here, they forgot our mango chutney tonight but we rang the restaurant and they came and delivered it straight away. I felt awful ringing them but wouldn't have been able to eat my food without it. Great service.
Update: I first reviewed 3 years ago see below, we live locally and still come here including tonight and again the food was lovely and even my fussy partner was happy with his dishes. Tarka daal was outstanding, chicken tikka tender, breads competently made. Very surprised at the bad reviews, noticed many are takeaway, we usually dine I'm and it's always been a good experience. Staff are also really lovely, we were put off by a really noisy group and they went to some trouble to set up the upstairs for us. Also offered us a bigger more comfortable table downstairs initially, even though it was fairly busy on a Friday night. So what one reviewer said about being made to sit at the smallest table is not the case now. Nice relaxed place to have a great quality curry at a reasonable price. Just to point out to another reviewer slating the food for not being authentically Indian: the restaurant is Bangladeshi, not Indian. The flavours are well balanced and nans cooked to perfection - fresh and fluffy soft with some browned bits. Samosas are large and taste freshly made, definitely above average quality. Fish dishes especially recommended, really tender. I've eaten here lots and with various people, and we've hardly even had a dish we've not been completely happy with. The staff make an effort and have a sense of humour.
We attended on a Tuesday evening. We noted that there was a weekday dinner offer. We were allowed to choose any starter and any main from the menu. The mixed starter was top notch - very fresh and tasty. I had a keema vindaloo which was superb - the portions were generous too. The service was attentive and sincere. The restaurant was very clean and nicely decorated. We will definitely come back if in the area.
Been here a few times, there's always been a lot of us in our group and the guys that work here always go above & beyond to make sure everyone has what they need The food is absolutely delicious every time, great choice of starters, main courses & side dishes, you'd be hard pressed not to find something you like I've also had takeaway from here and it always arrives promptly & still hot Vegetarian options: There are a range of vegetable based dishes Kid-friendliness: Children are welcome & catered for Parking: There isn't much parking on site & the area outside is cobbled but there is a carpark across the road, its pay & display but free after 6pm & on sundays Wheelchair accessibility: There is one small step to get in & there are 2 consecutive doors at the entrance which may make ot a little difficult to get in but not impossible
The Balti Palace has been a hidden gem in the heart of Glossop for many many years. The food is absolutely amazing and the staff are bubbly, down to earth and friendly. The chef is superb and his style of cooking is authentic Indian. Great blend of fresh spices makes dishes taste that much more special. The owner is a very sweet humble and down to earth man with monumental people skills. This is deffo a hidden gem and its time that this great restaurant received the exposure it deserves and people come and try the amazing rich and flavourful food they have to offer. Thank you for serving the people of Glossop for so long.
Been coming here for some years & takeaways, never had a bad meal, naga is my favourite, staff are great 100%
Just had a chicken jalfrezi takeaway. Not spicy or hot. Very watery. Beans on toast would have more kick with it. Oh dear. I should have known better than to give the Balti Palace another chance to impress. Did not receive my complete order. Went back to ask for missing item and was told I had not been charged for it. As i thought it was expensive for just a curry and rice I checked the online menu to find I had actually been over charged. I always like to support local businesses but unfortunately I will not recommend this takeaway/restaurant to my friends and family.
I cannot believe this place was recommended. Probably the most disgusting Indian meal we have ever had. We ordered chicken makhani awful awful..also the order was wrong ordered 2 garlic nans and got poppadoms and rice! we do not come ftom the area and had to drive 4 miles 's to pick up or I would gave brought it back and asked fir refund ..
The service was friendly and relaxed. The Restaurant has been decorated since ive last visited. The food was decent enough but seemed a shade overpriced. Maybe a sign of the times and rising costs but I feel better value could be had elsewhere. Maybe an early bird menu would work.
Had 5 vouchers for Uber eats and this is 1 of 3 places in Glossop using Uber- the others being dessert places. Ordered food to be delivered 6-6:30 on a sat night. It was running late, had to chase it up twice but when it arrived 7:30 it was one of the best Indian meals me and the wife have had and we both agreed it was worth the wait- though not really the point as 7:30 is the kids bed time. 2nd order, arrived on time and perfectly delicious! The 3rd however is what really prompted this review. Ordered for delivery for 6-6:30 on thurs. For a work friend as we were curried out. The idea being I’d drop it off for him whilst taking my lad swimming. It hadn’t arrived by the time I had to leave. Hadn’t arrived by the time I’d got back inc a shopping trip at M&S Chased it up and it finally arrived at 8:05pm. Over an hour and half late. No apology no nothing and whilst the curries are nice you need the customer service to go with it. Won’t be using again. Also my friend didn’t find a single hint of king prawn tikka in the Balti palace special mix. I’ve not eaten in the restaurant but that’s probably the way forward as the food is very nice. Don’t waste your time/money on deliveries if you want the food to arrive for a certain time.
