Great venue to watch a game. Grabbed some dinner, typical pub grub. Pleasant & friendly service, Neke took good care of us. The full 3 stars were given for the service. The missing 2 stars were for the food that took a long while to be served, although the staff had been apologetic about it. The 2 pies we had were nothing to shout about really… given the price. It tasted like heated up frozen ones with a side of frozen peas and dry instant mash.
I beg you to not eat here. If I could give zero I would. Staff openly talking about how hungover they were to customers. The food I have picture was the worst roast dinner I've ever had and here is why - The carrots were pretty much raw as well as hard brocolli served in a bowl of water. The potatoes were boiling hot but everything else was room temperature, if not, cold. The gravy was cold. The Yorkshire pudding was impossible to cut through it had been sat for a long time I imagine. I wasn't served my extra veg until I asked. No mash or stuffing was brought out which is advertised in the menu and I was told 'we don't actually have mash' after paying. Must have been the chefs day off because it was a disgrace. Could not recommend NOT going here any more. First and last time I set foot in that pub.
I came in last week had a lovely meal. Good price beer prices fairly good compared to other pubs locally. The Chef Danny is very good and helpful nothing is to much for her. Plus she's always happy and smiling which makes your day a little better.
Popped in to try the new menu for a late lunch, ordered the steak and ale pie slice. Waited for 15 mins then our food arrived. The slice was massive, had more chips than expected and the gravy boat was full of velvety gravy. Very impressed with the service Thom and his team on the day as my 1 year old was running about the pub like she owned it.
Had a lovely meal here at the golden eagle . The staff were extremely friendly and professional , especially Danni , we couldn’t praise her more. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere comfortable and friendly. The standard of food very high . We will definitely be back . Thank you Danni for making our visit so special .
Terrible food! Menu states they do a gluten free rolls but when we tried to order a gluten free hunter’s chicken sandwich we were told they don’t do gluten free here by the young boy at the bar, we also order two other sandwiches and both rolls were rock hard stale! Wouldn’t recommend.
I came here recently with my friends for a couple of beers and some food. Catherine was really helpful guiding us through the menu and recommending items that are suitable for the dietary needs of the group. The food was great from Tim and was very clean
Have had a nice lunch once before but came by last night with my wife and daughter; despite being clearly listed as serving food, barman didn't know if the kitchen was open, went to check, and mumbled something about it not being. He didn't know when it would be open when I asked, I got the impression that he didn't really care. Dirty sticky tables and loos, not a family place, previously made up for by friendly service and okay food but I think that was probably a Christmas anomaly.
Absolutely awful meal, the worst I can remember! One star is overrated for our experience. A reduced menu for Sunday. After waiting over one hour for food our starters came out five minutes before our mains, but at least they were cooked, even if the sauces came after the mains. Our mains had over cooked pigs in blankets and under cooked, cold veg. The extra sides didn't arrive. All in all a memorable meal that won't be forgotten, just for all the wrong reasons.
1700 hrs. Thought I was in heaven when I walked to this pub from an air bnb. Good range of beer and food- apparently. However after 1 pint of Abbott told it was off, went to order food and told no chef on! Not impressed!
