A McMullen pub since 1957, the Angels is just a hop, skip and jump from Butts Lane park and a few moments away from the bustle of the town centre.

Story

Traditional British classics and fine Sunday roast meats all with a modern twist. Fresh Italian pizza dough from our pizza oven and tasty nibbles to complement fine wines, world beers, craft ales and credible coffee... yum!

Small ones are most welcome- let them work up an appetite in the play area, inside or out!

Nice drop of IPA! Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, great family friendly feel especially at weekends with indoor play area. We have had Christmas party dinners here for large group 30-40 for the last three years and it's been great. Can get busy waiting for food sometimes as it's so popular but always good food. Plenty of parking. Sometimes quiet midweek as it's not in town centre but worth a visit.

Abject in all ways other than appearance. Not sure if we got the “B Team” or what but the food was overdone to within an inch of life, swimming in grease and utterly devoid of anything approaching flavour. What wasn’t burnt was raw or not ripe, everything was cold and a shallow beige mess. Our waitress was a shambles, repeated our order several times while she poked at her tablet seemingly typing out the order verbatim, intermittently pausing to ask us something we’ve said but earlier in the order. How we ended up with what we asked is a testament to technology! At the end we were charged full price, even though we were promised one of the starters would be refunded. We had to go back and discuss with the duty manager who eventually refunded the mains and starter. Utter shambles. Avoid like your life depended on it.

Nice pub with a fabulous interior design. So nice. Nice burgers however we had the nachos to start, unfortunately they're not exactly conventional which took the shine off an otherwise nice meal at a good price

Great food. Pizza's are Stone baked and good fresh, delicious. Great for families with indoor and outdoor play areas. Lovely outdoor area, perfect on a sunny day.

The Angel is a lovely pub. The indoor playframe area for the kids is a stroke of genius-make sure they have socks! The food is ok, if a little pricey ,but you do get huge portions. Go early on a Sunday as when I went they had run out of all meats except the chicken which was very dry and my Yorkshire was burnt and rock hard. Other times I have bern the food was fine. The drinks however will really put your bill up, £3.30 for a glass of orange juice I feel is tantamount to daylight robbery! a pint would have been cheaper, although probably not suitable for an 11 and 13 year old! The soft drink selection is also very limited. The staff are very polite and attentive and appear to be very well trained and you do not have to wait long for your order to arrive. All in all a nice pub for a family lunch, but not the best choice if you are on a budget.
