As the saying goes, "Expect the unexpected!" Well, we were totally blown away by the quality of food on offer here. The surroundings dont do the place justice. Staff were friendly, but service was difficult to judge as we were the only table. The food was really well presented and delicious. It's probably the best steak I've had in a while. We'll be back!
We came for Mother's Day and were so impressed. Can't believe we've never visited before. The food was 10/10. Very tasty, and good portion size. However the service is what really made it, every single member of staff was happy, polite and attentive. We will definitely be back!
The outside of the pub doest do this place justice, when you go in it is lovely and quant with really nice helpful staff and a lovely atmosphere. Unfortunately we missed lunch which stops serving at 2pm but hopefully will get back later this week. Perhaps a few hanging baskets and plants would look more inviting when driving past. We returned on our homeward journey for lunch. The staff were very attentive and helpful, the food was absolutely amazing. I had lobster, salmon and prawns with new potatoes and salad, cooked to perfection. My friend had oysters to start and crab for main course. The desserts were also beautiful. Would strongly recommend.
Lovely warm pub... good carparking. Cask Marque accreditation.
Roast was nothing special. Chicken was just a chicken breast rather than cut off a chicken, dry no flavour. Good selection of veg but served with only 2 roast potatos. Wouldn’t go again for the price! Cheaper to go to castle carvery and have lots more food which has flavour too! Wouldn’t recommend.
Perfect Great service and food was exceptional . From the outside I thought not great kerb appeal but the food was amazing , I felt very comfortable and stayed 3 hours on a Saturday lunch time . Highly recommend the angel .
Very dissapointing. We were really looking forward to eating here last night after all the good things we had heard. We had booked for 7.30pm, we ordered our drinks and were taken to our table. Our food order was taken about 15 minutes later. The first course arrived a very long hour later at 8.30pm. A jug of water took 45 minutes to arrive after having to ask a second time and I had to clean the glasses as they were all smeared. The beer glass was cracked and cut my partner's face, the waitress confirmed they had found a crack in the glass after we reported it. It was 30 minutes after finishing our starter that our steaks arrived, one of which was cold and was sent back. The replacement steak was at least hot but burnt on the outside, my partner however had almost finished his by this time. We decided against dessert due to our dissapointing experience. The only thing we enjoyed were our starters the Rissotto and the Black Pudding both were good. After our very dissapointing experience we will not be recommending The Angel.
Ordered duck at something like £27. Waited what felt like ages, and the duck came out cold, the vegetables also so mentioned this to the waitress and she said sorry I will ask the chef if we can heat it up for you. They microwaved the whole plate so everything was almost too hot to eat, apart from the duck which is still cold. The duck and veg was just slapped back on the plate in a mess to be honest I know duck is pink and therefore not burning hot but this was really cold. You don’t really expect this from a restaurant charging these prices, for them to just microwave it and slap it back on the plate. The waitress checked if it was ok this time and I said no not really it’s still cold but I’m going to eat it anyway because I’m hungry. She apologised but nothing offered as an apology like you would expect. My partners food was lovely on the other hand, but we ended up eating separately which isn’t what we had planned.
We have been going to the Angel for 2 years ..with credit to our friends and family and meal..spent well over 1,000 pounds there..but last visit was just not acceptable..2 hour wait for food..and it just wasn’t very nice..the waitress were good..but the menu had no flair and was missing various dishes. We won’t be going again..and just can’t recommend it anymore.
Please don't take notice for the bad reviews, me and my family visited here on sunday 23rd, this place really surprised me, the food blew my taste buds away really didn't expect it, the staff are super friendly, happy to help and so polite, they also can have a little joke, yeah the place was busy witch is a good sign and we had to wait for food but it was well worth the wait, I have to say I was stuffed and couldn't have eaten anymore, if we are ever back that way we will 100% be dropping in again, lovely place
