Really lovely pub with a great atmosphere. It's quite off the beaten track so worth searching a bit for it. The food was amazing and the beer on point. The landlady was so kind and friendly, very happy to chat. The pub itself is very well presented and feels nice and cosey. Those looking for something a bit more special should absolutely visit the Angel above the other pubs in the town.

We arrived late without a reservation for dinner and they were really busy but the owner went out of his way to find us a table which was kind of him as he could have easily turned us away. Great food and service. Highly recommended.

Food and service excellent. Smooth pate very good served with warm mini granary loaf. Main course of coconut seafood chowder was lighter in style to traditional chowder and flavour was punchy. Dessert was rocky road cheesecake. WOW. would recommend to anyone in the area. We also took our 2 Labradors and a large table in the window was reserved for us to keep the dogs out of the way.

Lovely pub/restaurant - nicely decorated abd cosy. Good staff with attention to detail. Food was well presented and tasty.

We paid £130 to stay for a night here. We let them know we’re coming with a baby. What they didn’t mention was that the room, which is situated right above the restaurant, is extremely noisy - you can hear EVERYTHING that’s going on downstairs. Our baby could not sleep with this noise. As if the usual chatter and music weren’t enough, at some point they let a street band come in and play! My husband and I had to go and talk to them separately to make it stop (each time them telling us “ just one more song”). Other than that - the room was not in a great shape, old, unventilated, with a dirty tap water - definitely not a £130 a night experience! On the bright side - the owner was extremely nice to us during breakfast and the food was good. Still, far from what you’d expect for the price tag.
