The staff are fantastic. Very helpful and approachable. The food was fantastic, all 4 in our group sat eating and nodding in appreciation. The 20 min burger challenge, nailed that too. The ales are fantastic. We tried many and finished off with a nice whiskey. Jim is great and happy to come talk through the evening. Excellent evening
We stayed here in August for 2 nights and loved our stay. A quirky and unique hotel we couldn't fault anything. The staff are superb, particularly Jim the owner who made us feel so welcome. We loved the public bar and sampled quite a few of the real ales. We ate dinner in the whisky bar which had a good choice of American dishes and an amazing choice of malt whiskeys. Our room was cosy and comfortable and breakfast was tasty and served by a very friendly waitress who was very knowledgeable about the area. A lovely stay...... will definitely be back!
Bloody lovely, great food, superb beverages, and amazing staff. Funny , quirky , warm and inviting From the moment we stepped inside, we were taken care of, so was Bernie the golden , his own fur rug; bowl and bone served on a plate. Food was excellent and very well done . Drinks were just what was needed and the price was surprisingly good. Can't fault it , go here and try for yourselves Thanks to the Anderson staff for a lovely experience
Great pub, friendly staff, hundreds of choice on whiskies! Had a fab selection of fruit beers, its a very unique and cosy wee pub, loved it and can't wait to go back!Service: 5/5
I only went to the bar so I cannot comment on rooms or the restaurant. However, the bar was fantastic. Small cosy bar selling some gorgeous beers. Nice little fire pit keeping the room warm, decor was brilliant and the service was 5 star.Service: 5/5
Went for a meal here in the summer of 2019, and all I'll say is I had a Philly Cheesesteak so good I literally had a feel into a food coma of ecstasy. I think often about that Cheesesteak.
Hotel is old however for the price paid, room was shabby and pokey - very small. Sliding door to bathroom, outdated decor. Shower did not work, coffee machine did not work, out of date milk, towel rail fell off the wall when towel pulled off after attempting to have a shower. We manage to fix it. Redeemed by an extremely comfortable bed and a good night's sleep. The hotel redeems itself on its service and quality of food. Some very unusual and not to my taste items on the menu, shall we say if you like American bar food your fine! Waiting staff extremely helpful and very knowledgeable regarding menus and drinks available . Excellent breakfast and very attentive host. If travelling and you like whisky, this is most definitely the place to go, a massive gantry of excellent malts from all over , I must mention the excellent Belgian beers on offer , beer garden and dog friendly in the bar which is more like an old man's pub!!
Can't review the hotel, because I didn't stay there. Pub and restaurant are brilliant, though. Lovely people, decent food, lots of beers on draught, plenty of choice in bottled beers, good advice available on all of them. And if you fancy something a bit stronger... they have 250+ malt whisky's available. Dog friendy, nice feel all round. Decent parking near the cathedral
In an age where carbon copy hotels can be found everywhere, i really liked the Anderson for its uniqueness. A stunning array of whisky, good real ales, tasty food, various brewing paraphernalia decorating the walls - this is a place with proper character. The folk who work here are friendly and helpful, and ready to answer any questions. It's a place to slow down and relax in and take some time to enjoy the finer things in life
Absolutely impeccable, run by an excellent bunch of locals that know exactly what the weary traveler needs; a welcoming group in the bar, clean rooms, and good food. Nothing too fancy but it’s a great spot, would highly recommend staying there if you are lucky enough to get the chance. Make sure you at least pop in for a pint and whiskey if you’re not staying.
