Visited this pub with my family for a pre-christmas meal before parting for distant shores. This pub had a lovely cosy atmosphere with log fire burning and comfy seating. The menu was varied, the food fresh, well presented and delicious, and excellent value for money. My compliments to the chef! The reason I have given three stars is because our lovely evening was spoilt at the end. Our table was booked for 8.30pm, pity whoever took the booking did not state the kitchen closes at 9pm. When our table was cleared we did wonder why no dessert was offered. When the tab was settled and this was queried by my brother the three staff, a lady in particular became verbally defensive, stating they were a pub, not a restaurant. The verbal altercation that followed was embarrassing; and very sad that honest customer feedback was deflected back with argument. Thus I refer to The Anchor as a pub, as that's what they want to be known as, despite being food led and excellently done too. I'd love to return as the food is delicious, however won't be making a return visit, as my last has left me with a bad memory.

Food was lovely. Had garlic king prawns which were really tasty. The staff were friendly and attentive.

We attended a 60th birthday party that was held in the large barn room which is part of the Anchor Inn. The staff were very helpful and the food they laid on was superb. The room was lovely and easily big enough for the very large party of people who attended the function.
