Not as good as it used to be, particularly since the Pharmacy has closed. Self-service tills in sandwich / drinks area have been removed making it less convenient for shoppers. Narrow, awkward, dated main customer entrance to the store. Not appealing from the outside, needs modernising.nPositives: Conveniently near the city centre. Good selection of sandwiches, drinks for lunch. Good produce and bakery section but wholemeal bread and rolls selection limited. Tidy and clean.nNegatives: Limited choice in some areas, particularly dairy items.
Need to fix your staffing Sunday 7th December 13:30. Over reliance on self service creating a backlog
Really hate doing this cause I had such a lovely experience with one of the staff members just before this who was very helpful but then I had such a terrible experience with another 01/02/2026, it was very busy like usual and I was at one of the conveyer belt checkouts but realized it had been changed to a self checkout, which while I haven’t used before but I was fine with. What I wasn’t fine with was how rudely I was treated by the older member of staff supervising the checkout she had short brown hair and I didn’t get her name cause I just felt embarrassed. As I haven’t used one of the conveyer belt self checkouts before so i was prone to making a couple mistakes but I was trying to work it out myself e.g I put a bag down on the end and realized it was weighted like a normal self checkout so was gonna put it on the floor when she very obviously rolled her eyes and rushed over when I didn’t even ask for assistance and started having a go at me for not understanding and not treating it like a normal self checkout and started trying to scan my stuff for me instead of just correcting me kindly. I started scanning my own things again and she finally left me alone but could feel her watching me. The way she treated me, and now having her watching me very closely just made me feel worse and flustered which lead to me make more mistakes and I could see her getting frustrated everytime i did but luckily managed to fix things before she had to come over. I’m 20 and I’m not challenged with technology but when I haven’t used something before I do tend to make mistakes as anyone would but I can’t imagine how older people that struggle more with technology get treated by her. Unless she just treats younger people like this which wouldn’t suprise me I’ve worked in retail and had to supervise many self checkouts before actually probably more checkouts than she had to and I know it can be stressful but I would never take it out on a customer. It’s always better to be understanding as it not very encouraging to people to use self checkouts after being reprimanded and made to feel stupidnnThe way she acted towards me was completely unwarranted I would never act like that with a customer so clearly she needs some more training in customer service, it just made me feel so uncomfortable and embarrassed as the other customers watched I was already not feeling great today and this whole experience didn’t help she really needs to learn some empathy especially when her job is to help people.
Always helpful staff if only customers would start packing as it goes through the till until waiting till all done then asking for bags would be much quicker
One of the few Tesco in the country where you have to pay for parking. Being used with other Tesco's , be careful and pay for this parking, otherwise your shopping is going to cost £40 in addition.
