Customer service, security, and manager were all very helpful and reassuring when I thought I had lost my laptop in store. With the amount of people going in and out, this tesco has military-like precision and is always stocked with all the essentials. Although it is so big I'm surprised its not an extra instead of express. Top marks all round
I did not find a way to contact Tesco about this directly so I will leave this here. If no reasonable response is given I will escalate the situation.nnEarlier today I was attempting to purchase an age restricted item at this location high caffeine energy drink. When ask to provide a form of ID i did so without any complaints because I am aware it is company policy. However, after I had provided my ID the employee asked my friend standing next to me to provide a form of ID as well. My friend is over 18 and looks it, but she didn’t have the ID on her person. The employee refused the purchase, even though I made it clear I was the one buying and later consuming the item. After that my friend left the store and I went to purchase the same item at a different counter where I was refused again as the employee had informed another employee that my friend lacked an ID card. I was then told to go to Sainsbury’s. I had to leave the store and then ask my friend to show a picture of her ID to the now two employees refusing to sell me the item. The first employee gave us attitude throughout the process and especially when checking my friend’s ID. After that I was again asked to provide my ID to purchase the item.nnNowhere in Tesco’s policy does it state that a purchase of an age restricted item can be refused if the company of the customer is unable to provide a form of ID. If I missed it, I would like to be provided the official source where it is written. I believe we were picked on for either our race or gender and this experience left us feeling targeted.
I am writing to formally complain about the deeply distressing and unprofessional treatment I received from members of your staff on Oct.31st at approximately 12:30 PM. Address: Tesco Stores Ltd, 9 Magdalen St, Oxford OX1 3AEnnI am a student, new to the UK, and was shopping in your store. While attempting to pay by card, I encountered some difficulty as I am unfamiliar with the process here. A female staff member with curly hair approached me and displayed visible impatience and annoyance she was about 160 cm tall. During the transaction, she scanned an incorrect item from my basket. When I removed it, she returned and blamed me for the error.nnSubsequently, she informed me that my card was not working. I therefore picked up my shopping with the clear intention of proceeding to the counter to pay with cash. At this point, the staff member stopped me and publicly inquiring me where I was going, implying that I intended to steal the items. This false accusation was humiliating and profoundly upsetting. My actions were solely focused on completing my purchase, and the suggestion of theft was both ridiculous and disgusting.nnTo confirm the error, I used the same card successfully at another terminal in your store during a later visit.nnFurthermore, on the same evening, I encountered another issue with a different cashier who was wearing a grey headscarf. She initially refused to accept my £50 note, and when I insisted, she did so with clear reluctance and an angry expression, which made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable.nnEverytime when I shop in this store, I greet the cashier with a smile, although many times they just stare at me angrily. I expect to be treated with respect and courtesy as a customer. The false implication of theft, and the refusal of 50 pounds were serious matters that caused me significant disgust and disappointment.n—nUpdate today:nThe curly hair female staff seems to target only at people of color. When i was paying, she approached me out of nowhere and said “don’t forget to pay.” But if the customers are white people, she approaches them with “my love” or “honey”. Her behavioural patterns cannot be ignored and I suggest someone simply fire her.
We were shopping I and my friend and everything was going smoothly until this security worker came up to mus for no reason and said that we shoult get out of the store when we asked why he said you know why and later he said something about bikes me and my friend don't even have bikes yeah and thats it
Tesco was out of sandwiches that I wanted maybe because of the weekend and everyone is visiting like Oxford me. I got a cheese and onion sandwich at the end.
