Handy shop in convenient location. Staff are often unhelpful and certain sections run out quickly.One lady really kind helpful lady struggling along heroically at the tills while other staff packing shelves, in between chatting to each other have been a supermarket manager in the past and would shake this place up in a minute. I have often witnessed people just dump stuff and walk out as the card reader was broke or they were waiting for the one till poor staff bar one heroic till lady.Sort this out teso !!
I went for a simple grocery shopping on Sunday morning and it became a headache. They have 'half price' sign on 2 items, and on the receipt, only one item got discounted and so I cancelled none discount item. When I got my receipt, the discount was cancelled too, so I asked why and a person on the till called a manager. They put mis-leading discount sign on a shelve and during the check out and also on the receipt, the discount mark was on a wrong item- which got me confused in the first place! The evidence was clearly there, yet instead of apologie, he was keep trying to convenience me that I was wrong and explaining same things over and over. In the end, he was like 'so do you want discount on both of items?' I said no. I just hate how they handled the situation and wasted my time. I don'r think i will come back to tesco express for awhile...
Seems to now be permanently closed as this is the second time I've got off the train at New Malden in the afternoon and found it shut. No details in the window to say when it will reopen yet stock still on the shelves? Now seems to be open again . Probably best to check before setting off if you intend to shop there these days
Sadly, i really don't like to give bad reviews but i must post this one for the literal safety of potential customers. I had my second experience of finding expired produce on the shelves. As someone with previous experience within the food industry, it is very easy to see that this is bad practice. Fair enough, mistakes do happen, but to happen twice is inexcusable. Maybe it's because the store is so understaffed, maybe it's just because a couple of individuals are careless but at the end of the day it won't matter if someone suffers from food poisoning because someone else failed to take responsibility for their job. Regrettably, I will not be using the services of this store from here forward and I would advise customers to take caution while shopping here.
Worst Tesco ever, staff really just don't care. Self Scanning machines will blink for 5 minutes with a "Please wait for Assistance" sound recording and staff behind the till will just stand behind the till and ignore you untill you mention it to them . Has happened on several occasions so I now refuse to use self checkout. Don't bother, guess most Tescos going downhill.
Pros: Located conveniently close to the new malden station; the store also opens till late in the day. Cons: Pricier than some other stores located closeby. Few staff, making it difficult to get assistance when required.
Rarely have all of the papers, staff are generally unhelpful. Check the dates on items, there are often out of date items on the shelves. Avoid if you can. Sadly not a lot of choice in the area if you're shopping out of normal hours...
Great staff always helpful shame people are leaving face masks on the steps onside these people don't care about themselves or anyone else, do we want to return to lock down, how many innocent people have to die. This has got to stop
Four stars because of the late opening hours, especially on Sunday. Good for late nights or needing something on a Sunday eve when everything else shuts at 4pm.
Decent small tesco, slightly understaffed and their lighting always makes you feel depressed, change the lighting and make it brighter so people can see better.
