Normal tesco .. overpriced over staffing , not great variet Heinz mac and cheese for god sakes, petrol station is no longer 24hr despite the sign saying different.. no notice was given to the community . much to my disappointment at 5 in the morning and not enough fuel to get to work , and had to wait until 7.30 for fuel ... I was a bit miffed one might say
18 year old son with full driving licence ID which he produced when asked was refused an energy drink because his 16 year old brother didn’t have ID. Okay, fair enough, so I take my sons to the store myself, I’m 52 no mistake and I am refused because I’m with my two sons! So apparently in Market Rasen Tesco, if you shop with children you will need to provide birth certificates and ID for the whole family proving they are all over 16 if you want to buy alcohol, energy drinks and sharp objects as they can’t trust you to not pass these things to your children under 16. You will be presumed incapable of doing the right thing by their staff who then stand there laughing as you leave empty handed.
I've shopped here many times before and had no bad experiences. Unfortunately today the situation was a stark contrast. What I have experienced today in store will be forwarded onto the Tesco head office and is a blatant abuse of power. When purchasing an energy drink at the self checkout I was left waiting while HAZEL chatted to her colleague while they both got an elderly gentleman some butter, they then proceeded to complain about how they had been left and the other store workers had gone on a smoke break. - Complaining about colleagues in front of customers is highly disrespectful and does not lead to a good customer experience. Upon HAZEL realising that the counter had been flashing red indicating that I needed assistance to verify my age she eventually came over and asked for my ID - to clarify I am 12 years older than the minimum required age so this was a bit of a shock but I was happy to provide my ID. Upon doing so she said okay and then asked my partner who had been waiting for me to finish buying said energy drink so we could go home. As my partner did not have her ID then I was refused the sale, seems extreme over an energy drink for someone who is clearly an adult but who am I to question this authoritarian worker. She somehow justified this by saying that her daughter is 27 and she gets asked for ID - I am older than this and had my ID on me. Upon this I accepted that I wouldn't be able to buy it and returned to the store a few minutes later without my partner as to not bring any confusion about who was going to drink this energy drink, somehow HAZEL had become significantly more attentive at this point and walked over to a different counter and told the staff member not to serve me and accused me of buying the drink for my partner. I know what you might be thinking, maybe this one was on me but no she literally said "You're buying that for your partner". Upon this revelation that I did not know my own intentions and could not be trusted with the energy drink asked when I would be able to buy one, to which I was informed the earliest would be tomorrow. I get that there are policies around this but it does not excuse rude members of staff mistreating customers, if this was me in her position I might have been fired or at least disciplined. I would therefore suggest that HAZEL is removed from any customer facing role until she receives adequate customer service training. A formal complaint has been sent to the Tesco head office, maybe Hazel will think before she is rude to customers.
Friendly staff as always, and pretty much always have what I'm after.
We received lovely service from Bernice. Very happy
Good store sadly shortage of veg like most shops
Very little choice when it comes to vegan food. Came here for a meal deal as I had a 4hr train journey ahead and all they had were vegan hoisin wraps. Absolutely no variety. Also no decent hair dye colours, or any face masks for sale that I could see. Waste of a trip really!
Not the biggest but a very useful store has most of everything you could need. Decent size car park with a petrol station in close proximity.
A good place to fuel and shop when passing through Market Rasen, a medium range of goods, a reduced price shelf and plenty of drink isles. The car park is ok but too many Mums and les abler slots close by the door which nearly always seem empty. Don't like the cas machine set up, to exposed for theft.......
Quite good range but pricey
