The staff at Ten Hill Place Hotel made us feel like VIPs! So attentive and helpful. The location was great; walking distance to Edinburgh Castle, National Museum Scotland, Surgical and Pathological Museum a nice surprise, and the train station. Great restaurants of all sorts nearby. The housekeeping services were terrific, daily cleaning and refills of the tea/coffee/cocoa/ cookies! Comfy beds and great views. I wish I could award 10 stars.
Popped in for a coffee and drinks after the theatre. What a treat. Very attentive young staff who went out of their way to help. All members of staff were pleasant and helpful. Service was as it should be with well trained staff working very much as a team. Ambience was relaxing.and inviting. Shall certainly be back again soon
Our experience here was excellent, so much so that I had to write a review. The hotel is in a great location, with a great little restaurant and bar inside. However, the customer service was above and beyond. When traveling, we had an unexpected injury occur that resulted in a surgery, a hospital stay, and crutches. The hotel staff assisted at every step of the way. Extended stay? Absolutely easy to arrange. New handicap-accessible room? No problem. They transferred our luggage for us and helped us track down some lost umbrellas we left in the closet!. They even located a wheelchair for temporary use in the hotel, not to mention arranging cabs and various other minor things we wouldn't have thought to ask for. When we return to Edinburgh, we will stay here and recommend that anyone else stay here as well.
Not great for the expense and hype! Staff were fine, location was probably not the best in hindsight and felt a bit more dodgy than other areas.. but for the tragic price of rooms we expected to at LEAST have bare necessities!!! Approx £200 for a night** - 1. Apparently shower products were “complementary” upon request* There was an empty shower on our arrival? 2. The tissue box had 2 tissues in it hidden by a fancied flower one on top 3. The bathroom fan is eternally going off 4. We had no working channel on the tv and no wifi code unless we asked at reception. 5. Not a bottle of water in sight. 6. Air con in room only blew cold air no matter the setting Overall the room / bathroom were well laid out and comfortable But definitely the bare minimum you would expect after paying such an amount!! And staff are OK but not overly willing to facilitate these problems until you go about them yourself.
A first time staying at this hotel, but hopefully won't be the last. It's in the best location for most attractions/walks in Edinburgh; plus it has the added charm of being located on a Victorian cobbled street with a charming square outside. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. We had our room upgraded, unexpectedly, and were spoiled with what we were given - a king-size bed, complimentary dressing gown and slippers and a lounge area, it was fantastic! The hotel is modern in its interior but still manages to offer a sophisticated, relaxing experience. My husband and I spent our first evening in the Wee Snug and found the prices for drinks very reasonable and the staff excellent. We both had excellent sleeps until around 7am, when other guests started to rise for the day. If you're a very light sleeper, bring ear plugs as the heavy doors do make a noise when closing. For us, we managed to get back to sleep. The rooms were spotless - possibly the cleanest we've stayed in, in the UK. Cleaning staff were polite and very hard working. Most attractions are between a 10 to 20 minute walk away. You really can't ask for better in Edinburgh! Thanks to all the staff at the hotel who made our stay so wonderful.
I stayed at this hotel with a friend for 4 nights. The staff was rude !! They didn’t even welcome us properly, no “hello” just a cold “are you here to check in ? What’s your booking name?”. She just seemed to be annoyed by our presence, but we’re clients… We didn’t book a cheap airbnb, instead this hotel and that’s the treatment we got. And I think that it is truly unacceptable to welcome your guests this way at a FOUR star hotel. The bed wasn’t correctly made every morning and once we found our pajamas thrown on the side chair. The breakfast was okay, but definitely not great since I don’t like eating salty, the porridge I ordered had no taste at all. The service at breakfast was extremely bad, so we decided to go have breakfast somewhere else. They didn’t bother to say hello and be nice. Again. They were just running around and not really there to serve coffee or tea. And I have to say in a four star hotel I simply expect a lot more from the staff. At the end of the stay the receptionist asked us how it went and we told her how it went very nice receptionist this time, she was so sorry and offered us a drink later and to send an email to the manager, to arrange a new stay to change our mind but we refused since we’re definitely not coming back… Rooms: The room was nice, our window had a view on a nice building. Unfortunately it was very cold and we couldn’t get the temperature to go up… we were there end of April
Ten Hill Place was an undiscovered pleasure. It is off the beaten path but exceptionally quiet ,immaculate, Exceptional service, The bar and restaurant were wonderful. We felt no need to go out at night for dinner. Breakfast buffet was terrific. Is only about three blocks from the museum of scotland. I would go there again.Rooms: 5/5
The hotel rooms were good especially the shower was phenomenal and location was within a 15-20 minute walk to most of Edinburgh's main attractions. The traditional Scottish breakfast spread was also delicious. However, there were two encounters with a spider and crawling insect in the room.Rooms: 4/5
Amazing customer service and welcoming staff<3 They were so lovely and looked after our luggage while we went out for the day. Not far from Edinburgh Town centre. The price for what we got was so good, the room was perfect for us, the bed was comfy and a luxurious bathroom. Would definitely go again. Lifts are available to use. The only thing I will say is our view through the window wasn't great and breakfast was expensive, even included in the price of the hotel.
The hotel & staff cannot be topped. Clean, spacious, good food & drinks. The staff is what takes this place to the ultimate level. Everyone you interact with is incredibly kind, efficient, and thoughtful. Special shoutout to Robert who went above and beyond to help me in a pinch. Rooms: Good amount of sockets/charging stations. Very clean & the beds are nice and firm. The Skyline Suite view are the pictures I’ve included, and the pictures don’t do it justice Nearby activities: Royal Mile, Castle, Royal College of Surgeons is right there, greats shops and restaurants Walkability: You are close to the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, the bus and train stations. You walk about the same distance to get to all less than 1/2 mile
