Yes fully aware it's a station but it's rather nice despite the improvement works. Can't wait to visit again soon. Nice staff, station was clean with decent WiFi, what more do you need, really?
The train was cancelled but wasn't notified so ran to catch the only one available and it left before the departure time. Next train was nearly two hours. The train driver was on the platform as I ran towards them and they boarded and shut the doors. The train left 40 seconds before, which was all I needed to make it. if it had not left early, so until the time advertised, I could have boarded and not waited two hours for the next one. I get you need to keep to a schedule but the train should never leave before the time advertised
Nice station for access to Cardiff or Bristol Airport via the bus shuttle, which stops outside the station. It's an 8-minute walk to the Mitchell Street Travelodge.
Left my bike locked up outside the station - one week later, the lock was cut off and the bike moved elsewhere as the bike rack was being dismantled. When I went to retrieve it, it was kept in an unlocked room near the station - the staff member went to punch in the code but the door was already open…nnI’d expect to get more notice, for the bike to be stored securely, and am now out £90 for a new lock. I only found it thanks the AirTag hidden in the saddle.nnThanks to the nice GWR staff member who helped me out.
Temple Meads train station in Bristol is where my partner and I go from London Paddington to Bristol.nnIt is undergoing a lot of work now and has been done for the past year or so therefore I cannot comment on much of it since there is not much to see other than a lot of construction work.nI do like that there is a British Sign Language relayer telling people the stops and platform. That was a good introduction to accessibility, but it did not hit the spot after the incident that happened today.nWe came across an issue today where our train was cancelled and there wasn’t much accessibility we didn’t realise the train was cancelled and only knew about it when people were leaving the train and it wasn’t until I checked online that discovered that it was cancelled, well at first it was delayed then it moved to being cancelled. We got off the train and then felt a bit lost with regards to what to do next. We went to the ticket office, and I was happy to see that there was a poster stating video interpreter available when we enquired about this, the lady stated that she was not sure how to do it and that it must be for those who prebooked the service. I do not exactly think that is the case and was told that out of convenience. Anyway, we managed to get on a train an hour and a half later and it is certainly a relief to know that we can head home now.nAll I can say is I hope the train station does better next time because that visit was disappointing, to say the least. There were a lot of things that could have happened to help people with disabilities and today was not one of those examples.
