We had a lovely Welsh Rarebit for lunch and I requested a slice of cheese and onion quiche to take away. Both were wonderful and it was nice they provided a salad and coleslaw with the takeaway quiche. Friendly staff too.
The Rarebit special is definitely worth it. Their food and drinks are good and once ordered, arrived reasonably swiftly. Actually placing the order took a while table ordering, to the point where I was going to leave and go somewhere else. The staff taking orders didn't seem to be busy and I noticed that only a few of the people in the cafe had food in front of them. The cafe started to get busy around 12 with people queuing for tables. Towards the end of our meal, we were courteously asked to move to a smaller table by one of the serving staff for a large party arriving. I can't help thinking that during busy times, with no ability to reserve, you could be waiting a while to sit down.
What a disappointment nowhere on the website does it state that takeaway only outside and only cake , even though we were sat on tables next to the exit. We walked 5 miles for Welsh rarebit specifically but with two dogs. Dogs are not allowed in fair enough but only cake as a takeaway no lunch of any description. We regularly do this walk especially for the Welsh rarebit and always sit outside. The website needs updating if the rules have changed. The place was pretty empty too so that’s no reason. Feeling annoyed as we planned the walk a week ago only to feel flat and hungry at the end of it and a walk back on an empty stomach.
Lovely food and lovely staff. Food was a bit delayed due to then being so busy but they apologised in advance and offered complementary cake to make it up. Well be back.Food: 5/5
Visited today for the first time on years. Delighted to see Sue is back in charge! Only had time for coffee but the service was as charming as ever and cant be faulted.Service: 4/5
Beautiful cafe in a beautiful place. However ordered take away drinks and waited outside for them. A young lad came out to deliver them to us. He had filthy hands and was holding the cups from the top. We were put off and couldn't drink them. Please do a hygeine check with your staff before service
Disappointing tea shop in such a wonderful environment. Staff are bordering on rude, and always extremely slow. Arrived at 950 on a Sunday to be told “You do realize we only open in 10 minutes “ . What would be wrong with a smile and “ We only open in 10 but would you like to take a seat in the meantime?” Clearly not owner run as we drove the 10 minutes to Natter rather than put up with what is not great coffee, always slow service, and absolutely no atmosphere. The food is reasonable, and the Welsh rarebit is tasty, but the overall experience is ruined by indifferent staff. The tea shop at Watts lets down an otherwise incredible creative place where we love to take visitors. Please someone fix this local eatery. You have a captive market and a perfect location.
Foods and drinks are good and served in big portion. I was enjoyed with those tasty dishes with smiling staff.
Delicious soup, tasty quiche and salads. Generous portions. Loved the cafe. Very good chef!Food: 5/5
Although my cake was delicious, the service was painfully slow and the environment was unwelcoming and almost unpleasant. You had to queue in the rain before being allowed into the cafe. In my case that took 15 minutes. Then the cafe door was left permanently open on one of the coldest days of the year. There was no heating. No take away service so you were obliged to go through this experience if you wanted a drink or sit-down after enjoying the wider Watts offering.
