Service with a smile is priceless. Unfortunately smiles were greatly lacking here. My scone was tasty but the cafe towards the end smelt like someone was smoking in the corner of the room. When I asked abt it, it was met with a shrug. And lastly a mouldy bread sandwich. With so many other great little cafes in chester, tea on the wall nweds to 'up their game '. I will not be returning and would not recommend to friends.
I used a 'soup & sandwiches' Groupon deal to visit Tea on the Wall. It was very stark inside though had a lovely setting. The waitress was not particularly friendly though was civil. The lentil & bacon soup was unfortunately inedible; very bland, hard lentils and fatty bacon bits. Fortunately the tuna melt baguette I chose was very nice but both the soup & baguette were served on one plate with not a single piece salad garish so looked rather colourless & unappetizing. I mentioned to the waitress that I was unable to eat the soup and gave the reasons and got a shrug and "OH" in return! No offer of something else to eat or apology. I will not be recommending Tea on the Wall to my friends.
Great breakfast - top quality ingredients. Nice coffee. Friendly service. A bit chilly in there as the door was kept wide open.
Great location in a Georgian building. It has been a firm favourite over the years but we feel it's going down hill a bit. There is no WiFi which is inconvenient when trying to organise a day in Chester and look up places to visit. The young staff whilst friendly enough seem distracted and more interested in their smartphones, sadly a common blight amongst millennials. Recently the place has been empty and this is high season for visitors to Chester. I would be sad to see it go but feel a few course corrections are required to bring it back on track.
Had afternoon tea with Prosecco with friends for my 71first Birthday and it was first class with very good friendly service . Will be going back soon to have lunch
Really nice place with a great view. But selection was limited even for afternoon tea
Sunny day and a lovely cream tea. Friendly staff and informal, relaxed atmosphere.
Lovely location, nice views, helpful staff. Very nice cup of tea and food.
A good tea shop regrettably tables are reserved for later in the day, hence customers are being turned away.
Nice place to get out of the rain in, good playlist on on the background and a very laid back feel to it.
