The telephone booking system is probably the first port of call for most of us and it is disappointing to say the least. To hang around for 1hr 25 mins only to be told that all the appointments have been filled for today, call back tomorrow at 8am, is at best frustrating! I note that some six months ago the practice were looking into 'shortly' restarting the online booking system - what on earth happened there? It is surely the solution, certainly for us non-urgent cases whatever that might mean?
I had a great experience with this health practice. Receptionist Tammywas really helpful and friendly she got me a call back from the doctor within 15 mins and the Doctor sorted the situation without any issues. Thank you.
40 to 45 minutes to get appointment, in a que of 24 some receptionist helpful, some of not so. When doctor rang back, made a rude comment about my Yorkshire accent! I can't help the way I speak. I decided not to ring back. Will treat myself. We have used these doctors for 13 years. Doctor said I don't have to treat you, I can call the police. My partner fell in the bath, I live near the doctors, rang to see if someone would came and check her, told head injury, go to A&E. A lady fell on our street, we helped her to the surgery, the did see the lady, but felt as if we shouldn't have bothered! The do have some good doctors, but the leave or retire. The are some of the worst doctors I have come across in my life. Have had more help from Rowlands Pharmacy. In fact I don't think they are qualified, no bedside manner. 28th June 2022, 08:00 - 08:30, got straight through, 21 in call que, doctor rang me back, Meds ordered. All in 25- 30mins. Well done! Never had this before. 4/7/22 08:00 - 08:25, 23 in call. 25 mins all done, call, doctor call back, Meds ordered. Found staff a lot more pleasant than usual. Tuesday 20th July 2022, surgery not open?
It can be impossible or incredibly difficult to access a GP appointment here, even when you have symptoms requiring an urgent GP appointment. Patients are at risk of harm when the receptionists classify such cases as non-urgent and make patients feel patronised and gaslit. I know my case isn't a one-off as I recently found out that another local with the same condition needing urgent treatment from a GP was also refused an appointment. They ended up being given an appointment at the hospital, thankfully. There's a reason why the NHS recommends urgent medical attention for certain conditions, yet the receptionists, for whatever reason, won't give out appointments in such cases. I was only able to get an appointment after being told by NHS staff elsewhere that my situation merited calling back to insist I be given an urgent GP appointment otherwise I should go to A & E. I've given an additional star because Dr Ansar is efficient, professional and generally brilliant. If it weren't for him I'd have moved to another practice. I know these are difficult times for NHS staff but there's something going seriously wrong with this practice. I've hesitated to write this review, but after hearing I'm not the only one this has happened to, I feel a responsibility to share this review.
I've been holding off posting anything but unfortunately I've had enough. My main concern about this surgery is the receptionists. Or atleast one from what I've gathered. I don't know what the practice advise them to do but they are not doctors and should not be diagnosing or assuming the state of someone's health over the phone. That is for a nurse or a doctor to do. And they are reluctant to get you through to one. Even when someone's health is seriously deteriorating. On an upside to it all the nurses are nice and one was very helpful to over rule the receptionists and say she was available and could see my mum straight away. So moral of the story. Be damanding and get past the receptionists and you will receive care. If you don't you will be pushed aside by the front desk and get no further.
Some reception staff are lovely, others go out their way to intimidate you/be difficult over the most simple of tasks/queries. I understand they will have difficult days/calls but why go out your way to be difficult yourself. You are representing the NHS.
Abysmal service, should really be investigated,..they run it like a baronial fiefdom,..a simple thing as ordering a prescription turns into a nightmare every month,..there is always a commotion,...they are way below adequate,..and its almost impossible to get an appointment with the ' new bourbons!A Doctor???,..micromanage themselves into Oblivion and irrelevance,..stage 1 complaint forthcoming,..I encourage you all to do the same!,or nothing will change with this atrocious practice.
They have a ridiculous system in place for getting through to make a pre-bookable appointment. I was told to phone at 8am as there was no other option for future appointments. 1hr later I was still in a queue for an appointment. I have made an official complaint. Once you see the doctors, they're usually great but getting your foot in the door is almost impossible .
Atrocious system for appointments tried for weeks still can't get through. Now automated message saying call back later terrible service
Terrible called to make an appointment at 8am “calls cannot be answered at the moment “ until 8:30 in a queue for 40 minutes to be told there are no more appointments for today 4th time in a matter of weeks totally useless if I could have given 0 stars I would have
