I came from Birmingham on Sunday 16th October 2022 & visited from this Hotel Pub bar for soft drinks and a meal with friends that live in Shropshire. I have a Akita puppy who loves people and other dogs. This was a brilliant place to bring her! The locals were very friendly, she had lots of fuss which she loves, and the staff were exceptional. The food was really nice. My puppy was so relaxed she had a little lay down and loved her food so much she didn’t look up until she was full. The atmosphere was great, I will definitely be visiting again and now I know a lovely place where I can bring my dog too.
Great breakfast the girl serving was lovely and very helpful. Rooms were good the only little niggle was when i asked my partner if i could open a window when moving the curtains it had obviosuly had not been hoovered there for years. The cobwebs were massive. And the shower had black mould in. I know its an old building but these few things need addressing. Walkability: Central location perfect
Passing through Cleobury today we stopped at the Talbot for lunch. We had roast pork which was suburb. Good portion, nice veg and all really hot. Very reasonably priced. Well done Nick and staff !
Popped in for a bit of lunch and a pint, chef had done a runner and the beer was more like soup! Shame as the barman was an affable chap albeit clearly a larger drinker! Real ale, not that I was able to enjoy, great location but not worth a revisit.Service: 3/5
Booked in advance as we are in the area for a few days. Great location, a warm welcome and good beer. Breakfast included. The room is cozy and part of an old coaching inn :Rooms: 4/5
Further to my review this morning. I was locked in the pub/hotel with no access out. I had to use the fire escape to exit. Building completely locked. The local fire department need to visit due to exit restrictions.
Nice hotel right in the centre of town, staff friendly, room nice, beer great what more could you want.Rooms: 4/5
Breakfast not good and service poor, drinks quite expensive, beautiful building but rooms shabby. Have visited and stayed at this place for over 50 years and it seems has seen better days.
Owner who checked us in very friendly polite room was very good brekkie great well worth a stay lovely hotel bar cosy comfy relaxed atmosphereRooms: 5/5
My friend and l went to the talbot this evening for a meal. It was very quiet and there was only one other couple ordering food. We waited quite a long time for our starters which were presented ok. Our main courses were both vegetarian, my friends meal arrived first, she had to go to the bar to request cutlery, my meal arrived 10 minutes later, the chips were ok but the vegetarian style steak was over cooked and tasteless, my friends lasagne was awful, no vegetables in it just soya mince, all the food apart from the salad was second class frozen mush, worst meal ever -5 stars. The only consultation was the Wye Valley beer which was very nice.
