Even on a wet March evening the Taj was busy. A fairly roomy restaurant with room between tables. Extensive menu with plenty of choice. Very friendly and welcoming reception with excellent table service. Very generous portions and all our food was hot and delicious, fair prices as well. One of the best I've been to.
The welcome was warm and friendly! But I’m sorry to say we didn’t enjoy the food - it was over-sweet and a bit tasteless. We had Chicken Tikka Masala sooo sugary, dhal not much flavour and Saag Paneer not much flavour Naans and rice were good!
We walked in and asked if they had a table for 2. We were taken to a small table for 2, even though there were tables available for 4. When the food arrived he couldn't fit all the food on the table, we said you should have given us a bigger table. He replied with well you should have booked, how rude. We were told the rice was on its way, so had to sit patiently waiting for the rice to arrive before we could serve. The food was bland, no flavour at all apart from a couple of chillies. The saag aloo was very salty, I couldn't eat it. We definitely won't be returning
We visited the Taj Mahal whilst staying at The Greyhound hotel a few buildings down. The food was amazing, the staff were amazing, nice calm atmosphere. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
We ordered a take away last night was lovely rice was watery but over all really nice
Service started well, but tried to charge £6 for a coke, this is our second visit first time foo and service were both bland, no spice or flavour to the food, after hearing from friends they had a good meal we gave it another chance and my Chicken Tawa had no taste apart from excessive salt, my wife had a lamb rogan this could only be described as a lamb stew, we will not be visiting again.
Fantastic Food/Great Value /Great Service . Highly recommend we always enjoy our evening dining at the Taj Mahal
Went in on a whim and had a lovely meal. Some of the other reviews had mentioned bad service but I can only guess that those customer had been rude because the staff went above and beyond what was expected. Well recommended and will go again.
Covid friendly? Not really. No social distancing here! Very busy, crowded in fact. The food was very tasty but only luke warm straight from the kitchen. Might return but would try to pick a quieter time.
We booked for my birthday went in as was met with unwelcoming attitude though the receptionist was polite enough.they said we hadnt booked and told us to come back in 15 minutes so we did. Service was quick but we wasnt asked for poppadoms or topups for out drink, no smiles. The food was below average and my biryani was unispiring just plain boild rice with chicken no veg or sauce no color. It was a huge dissapointment as we used to go here often 20 years ago when it was one of the best places ive ever eaten. Such a shame hope they short it. Best of luck
