Syon House

About

Syon Park, home to the Duke of Northumberland's family for over 400 years, is the last privately owned country estate in London. Filled with beauty, magnificence and wonder, this "delicious place" is the perfect setting for special celebrations.

Story

We love weddings and celebrations at Syon Park. We are a bit biased but we think Syon is the perfect place for your ceremony, reception or celebrations. Our main season runs from April to mid-October each year. During these months, we offer Syon House for afternoon ceremonies, followed by drinks in the inner courtyard with with central fountain and parterres of white and cream scented flowers. Choose the Great Hall for up to 120 guests , or else the State Dining Room for 10 to 50 guests. You have exclusive use of the House whichever room you choose. Ceremonies are offered on Fridays, Saturdays, Mondays and Tuesdays.

If you marry elsewhere, Syon House is offered for drinks and photographs in the afternoon.

Guests move over to the Great Conservatory (the jewel in our crown) for dinner and dancing in the evening - a beautiful crystal palace of a venue. It's actually a working Victorian greenhouse, but it is just wonderful for a celebration. It can host 50 to 160 guests for dinner. It is only available after 5pm - but there are no restrictions on which evenings are available to hire. It can get very twinkly with all the candles - and has a magical quality, especially when the sun has gone down. If you like beautiful gardens - Syon is the place!

We do not offer the Great Conservatory for winter parties from late October to the end of March. However we can host a ceremony in Syon House during the winter - with registrar agreement of course.

For bigger parties (200 to 600 guests) from May to September, there is the Garden Room Marquee. This is situated in a very private walled garden to one side of Syon House. We work with the lovely folk at Concerto Group on this. Ask us for details.

We are very proud of the celebrations we host. Our aim is for you and your guests to hopefully have one of the most memorable parties of your life. Simple really - we like happy people!

Syon House has been at the centre of so much English history since the time of the Tudors. Notable residents include Catherine Howard, Lady Jane Grey, Pocahontas, and Queen Victoria. For visitors today it offers the beautiful conservatory and gardens, as well as the lavish interiors of the main house itself. The volunteer guides were all enthusiastic, informed, and generous with their time. There is a shop, but food is only available at the neighbouring garden centre. I would recommend as the house to people with an interest in history, and the gardens to everyone (you can buy tickets to the gardens without entry to the house).

Nice relaxed place. Inside the house were good ceilings and marquetry and the glass house looked beautiful in the sunshine but the grounds are not up to the standard of other big houses. Poor facilities for wheelchair users, no information given at the front desk where you pay and a wheelchair took some time to arrange. Better training and organisation needed. The outside area for the cafe needs some shade.

As someone who went to school locally, it is a real shame that we visit historical sites further afield when this gem is on our front door! A lovingly restored house, with friendly guides in each room and beautiful gardens. There are guides and extensive information cards for most artwork. There is free parking and a garden centre next to it with some refreshments. I would love to return and spend even more time. I bought a copy of the historical local map, which was only £4. As a local, I paid £10 for entry.

This is one of the most extraordinary houses in greater London, and that's saying something. Under-visited - inexplicably - it is on the site of a medieval religious settlement later converted to a country house on the outskirts of the capital. Adam produced masterpiece interiors and although some of the museum quality artworks have been removed, it is still an exceptional place with great contents.

Beautiful setting for where it is. Staff are really lovely. Good day out even if it's just to chill in the grounds.
