A historic old theatre with all the best shows from around the country coming to the North East via the Sunderland Empire. Great views from every seat, staff always friendly, variety of shows always great. Massive west end hits such as Wicked, Matilda, Fiddler on the roof all have been in the last year. Always a great show to be seen.
What a fantastic place, so much character inside and out tte building. Matilda was awesome too! We also saw Nativity here a few months ago. Highly recommend the empire.
Fantastic theatre wil lovely staff and atmosphere. We went to watch the Sunderland legends show so was nice to see it lit in red and white lighting. Well decorated and great effects and sound. Staff were lovely but be warned a lot of performances do not allow photos! Plenty of toilets that were in decent condition. Pricey at the bar and for snacks but of course its expected at such a place. Have been here many times before and Im sure will be many more! Xx
First visit. Beautiful exterior. All the staff from behind the bar to management were lovely, helpful and polite. Seats were comfortable especially in comparison to the Theatre Royal in Newcastle. There's a good range drinks and snacks, with seat service available. Production was great. Inside also appears to be well maintained. A great evening.
Lovely olde feel to the inside.Were there to see the classic Faulty Towers play, great acting full of laughs and the atmosphere all round was brilliant. Staff helpful and friendly too.
