Even without going inside, the Sunderland Empire Theatre is an impressive landmark. Its magnificent Edwardian architecture immediately catches the eye, and the elegant tower makes it one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. Opened in 1907, the theatre has welcomed legendary performers including The Beatles and marks the stage debut of Helen Mirren. It’s wonderful to see such a historic building still standing proudly and remaining an important part of Sunderland’s cultural heritage. A must-see for anyone who appreciates history and architecture.
Went had the vip experience staff was great and then went to watch karate kid the musical such talented actors singers then at half time we had ice-cream waiting and left happy at the end
Went for Mouline Rouge, show was amazing.nBut the seats on zop of the theatre are high up and not the most comfortable seats...nNot easy to access for people with walking difficulties. No lift.nGreat to order for free on your seat to get it delivered to your seat. But best to tge beginning of show, in break was to busy and had to walk down for drinks.
We saw the Karate Kid musical at the Empire, it was an enjoyable show.nSeated in row E we were reasonably close to the stage, the stage isn't much higher than the stalls, so there was no obstruction to the view at all.nThe theatre is beautiful inside and out, although it can be a bit tricky finding your way through the multiple lobbies in, and then again to the most appropriate exit door.
Went to see Burlesque, really good night after some worries about the opening weeks and cancellations etc. However went without issue. Entrance gets a bit too busy once doors open but short lived once they let you get to seats, prices are as expected for a theatre for nibbles n drinks. Overall a great night :
