Kind, caring staff. Who do their utmost to look after those who can no longer look after themselves and prove too much for their families to care for them as they would wish to. Some staff are a wee bit softly spoken and need to speak up when talking to their deafer residents. Difficult to take those in wheelchairs further than their wee garden without a car as atop of a steep hill. Made my mother as comfortable as they could in her last remaining years. Thank you! They had a resident cat which my mother really enjoyed when it wandered into her room for fuss. Lots of activities on offer if residents wish to partake. In close proximity to Castle Howe and The Serpentine Woods.
When after 3 years of consent day care we were accepted into Summer Hill nursing Alzheimer unit. We as a family could not believe are luck having been recommended by all RM’s home carers and two friends Richard has been there now for three months and he could not be better cared for. With all the staff so very caring and understanding with RM’s needs. He has changed from being cross, angry, aggressive to quietly happy and I am told at time very amusing. All down to the staff’s compassion but also their kindness to me. Comprehending how emotional the move has been. The moment you step though the front door of Summer Hill you feel a real sense of “fresh air”, clean, peace, professionalism but above all caring. 11 out of 10! Having used 6 other care home in Cumbria for respite I feel I am quite a good judge. There is no competition. Exemplary!
Sorry but this care home is not a care home that I would recommend. Staff are very friendly but the lady in charge is not .
My husband was in here for a year before his death. The Staff were wonderful and he was very well loked after! The best in Kendal
