Worst Chinese food I’ve had. Chicken and corn soup was so watery with no taste. Chicken cashew nut- tried to order with no onion and it was filled, there was no flavour to the chicken at all. Garlic chilli combination- no flavour at all For $69 all you got right was the rice/spring rolls and prawn chips. What an absolute waste of money.
Love their food. Decent price and good sized portions.
Really delicious food and well priced. The staff are lovely and the shop has a warm and friendly atmosphere. Definitely recommended.
Ok food la, it would satisfy anyone in this area whilst there’s no other competition. Food was what you would expect with visual but the taste was different to what you would find in china town or Hong Kong. Probably you would call this an “Aussie-Chinese” restaurant.
Food was delicious, serving sizes was decent and well priced. I will be going here as my regular Chinese take away for now on.
Worst Chinese I've ever had. The Chilli beef and chicken with plum sauce ended up in the garbage. Soggy and oily with there little sauce, inedible. Doesn't deserve one star.
I would give it zero to be honest. Ordered 4 things, the woman on the phone repeated everything back to me fine. My partner picks it up, brings it home, and doesnt question whats in the bag. I have a look and its nothing what i ordered. Ordered honey chicken, got sweet and sour chicken. Order Mongolian beef. Didnt get it. Ordered mixed entree. Didnt get it. Ordered fried rice, no onion. So much onion its disgusting. What a waste of money and time.
A friendly family-owned local business with sensational food at the appropriate price
Hands down best Chinese food I've had in Newcastle. The beef and black bean was the best tasting and most tender I've ever had, The combination omelette was incredibly big and flavourful, lastly the honey chicken was very nice, not over cooked like most places are but still a nice crisp to it, Pricing was very fair and the staff were very friendly, 110% recommend and I will return soon.
I fully enjoy the food every time we buy from Hoi Sum, we have tried many smaller chinese restaurants and takeaways and this one us consistently enjoyable. We make use of the lunch specials and buy double, keeps the spend within a reasonable level. The dim sims/omelettes are really good in my opinion as well. Its a family run restaurant and They are always courteous calm. Try it i think u will like it.
