The vineyard self tour leaves a lot to be desired at this time of year April, there is not much to see, perhaps a board would be useful with pictures of the vines/grapes in full growth and information on the process. We were booked in for a wine tasting and sharing platter for 2pm, but we were early due to the poor self tour, however our table was ready. The rest of the afternoon was faultless, lovely wine, delicious food and excellent service. Would recommend, but in a month when the vines are in full bloom.
[FULL REVIEW] I attended today for my brother's stag do. A delightful setting with impressive scenic views. It's hidden away in the outskirts of Abergavenny and has a lot to offer. The food was very tasty and drinks rather refreshing. The customer service could be improved upon with regards to the overall confidence of the staff and knowledge of the servicess provided. This is not a criticism of the staff themselves who tried their best but of management as ultimately staff performance and training is their responsibility. Examples of this being what a flat white coffee consists of and payment options with regards to acceptable cards. Everyone is learning on the job so overall this did not detract from the positive experience but a noteworthy point in my opinion. The toilet room was quite sweet however the toilet could be touched up a little so that flushing the toilet feels a bit classier. Granted, the experience of making a deposit isn't a spiritual retreat, but it would just add to the experience. I myself had the brie and cranberry toastie which honestly was perfect. Not too hot and the blend of flavours ideal. The value for money was great and if anything I'd have been comfortable paying more.. The cider, and coffee were high quality, though unfortunately I had to ask for the coffee twice - an exception to an otherwise quick service overall. The wine perfectly adequate. When we had finished our booked reservation time a member of staff was very polite in requesting we sit elsewhere to accommodate their next booking. This was quite lovely as I got to enjoy the views more. Overall I would highly recommend coming! A fantastic place to have lunch with friends or family. Thank you for such a positive experience :
Overall we liked the experience. Very tranquil place with the sound of water from the stream in the background. The blueberry cake was lovely! The wines were a bit of a let down due to them being very light and not a lot of depth. Felt the prices were reasonable. The meat and cheese board was lovely. Not sure I would go there again for a wine tasting.
Delighted to stop off here late lunch on the off-chance, after a full morning climbing Sugarloaf and exploring the surrounding area. They only offer table service, with hot, cold and alcoholic beverages alongside mixed platters and cakes. Booking ahead strongly recommended as there was a steady stream of bookings and few available tables, but we were seated within minutes regardless. Good time had by all! It is very accessibly priced, a great location, and the service is lovely if not perfect. I couldn't resist a small tasting while I was there, 4 * 25ml of very distinct wines. The carafe of water really helped clear the palate between savourings, and I was very sorry that we'd picnic'd already as the platters looked scrumptious. The wines were very quaffable, also available by the glass, bottle and to take away. I'd be curious to know the effect of this year's intensive sun on the depth of the red, as 2020 wasn't bad. Had a little walk around the vines in the sunshine after, and enjoyed the cascading water feature down the hill. One of my sons was very comfortable stretched out on a sunny bank for a while. Sure, the button to flush the loo could do with replacing, but the soap and lotion were luxurious. Make sure you check the bill as they may accidentally undercharge you. Very pleasant find for a little local Saturday afternoon treat - thank you.
We went here on a rainy day after reserving a table and sat outside under cover on the great looking wooden decking. Had cheese board and wine tasting and it was presented wonderfully and everything was fresh and delicious. Staff were very polite and extremely friendly! Only issue we had was it really isn’t signposted well. Highly recommended.
Excellent service, great food at reasonable prices. Surrounded by beautiful scenery. Pre booking advisable, very popular.
Lovely place; stunning scenery, great quality white and blush wines, well chosen cheeses. Service was lackluster, preference was given to regulars and it too 20 minutes for the service staff to take our order, which was less than ideal given we could only book a one hour slot.
Quaint place, good ambience and good selection of wine from their wineyard. must visit while visiting Sugarloaf trek.
Great wine, great food and great views. Very accommodating and lovely little shop. We came here 2022 and in 2013 and it is such a beautiful stop for lunch!
Amazing time at the sugar loaf vineyard. Bit of a climb to get there if you're walking but you can't beat the views onces you're there! All the staff were lovely, we got the mixed platter and a couple of wine taster trays. Both were great and we ended up coming away with a couple of bottles of the Madeleine. Looking forward to coming back soon
