Sadly very few places left like this, friendly helpful,& knowledgeable  staff and some good bargains too, happy to support local stores like this instead of the big faceless corporations

I can't recommend this place enough. Huge variety of really current kit and there's absolutely no question that James and his sister really know their stuff. I bought a Rab jacket that I'd been looking at for a while and then went back and bought two sets of walking boots because I was so impressed with their knowledge and service! It's family owned and run and has been in business for more than 40 years. It's a great testament to what independent stores can offer and how they can really excel. James even offered to post me gear if I found things in the future that I wanted. Needless to say I love my Rab jacket and the one set of boots I've had  a chance to test out. Well worth a visit if you're anywhere near the Lake District and you love good quality outdoor gear.

The shopkeeper here is so lovely! We got some great local tips, and some really nice gear at good prices. Love this place!
