Really useful place to park if driving in from Dumfries and Galloway. I did some research first using the reviews here and looking at the bus routes and timetables. It took a little while, but we got our heads round it and took the 47 bus Cammo into Edinburgh centre and Penicuik back out. The buses go every 20 minutes.nThere are a lot of stops and it does take a while to travel in and out of the city centre, but we enjoyed it as it's not something we've done before.nLoads of free parking spaces available here. But if it's been very cold and it gets icy then be careful in the parking bays as they aren't gritted.nIKEA is just over the road too if you don't have one near you and you fancy a quick pop for a look around before going home as we did.
Big car park. But pity the terminal is closed.nnThe entrance and exit has 2 sides one is height restricted to 2.05 metres the other is unrestricted. The road in has an island which narrows the road but my Citroen Relay Van made it through with some room to spare . There are few longer vehicle parking spaces and lots of spaces for cars. There is a frequent bus service to the town centrenNext to Straiton Retail Park. There are 2 EV charging stations so space for 4 vehicles to charge up.nI didn’t stay overnight so can’t offer advice.
This was such a great convenience getting around Edinburgh. Spend some time studying the routes if you want to go to several places around the city. We were able to get a bus straight to our destination, then took the same number back to the parking area.
Very convenient park & ride scheme to enjoy a day out in Edinburgh, we found it easy to work out bus times which came on a regular basis.
If you're banning cars from the city centre, then learn to provide facilities that are open, maintained, work and have quality information, infrastructure and all the requisite services demanded by its intended customers.nThis is dire ... which is why it's empty on a Sunday - the only people parked there whom I spoke to for advice were simply parked up and not using the bus service or dealing drugs!nAnd why does a Park & Ride bus have to make 38 stops en route to its destination!? 42 minutes on too of the drive to the outskirts. Useless.nTypical public sector mentality: forcing change down the public's throat without the corollary of a properly functioning alternative.nDreadful introduction to a great city.
