Lovely sunny morning, arrived at the park before 7am our favourite time to be there as lovely and quiet. To be honest now is not the best time to visit as there's a lot of work going on restoring the lake and woodlands so not as pretty as usual and I think a lot of the wildlife have retreated away from the main lake to quieter and more secluded parts of the park but it was still a lovely walk and very interesting to see what was talking place.
Very small car parks! Some building work happening which i think one car park closed. Disabled friendly? If you have an all terrain chair maybe. Otherwise proceed with caution. That said, very nice place. Lots of wildlife, lakes, trees and plants. Maybe 5 stars when work is done....
We visit Stover regularly and absolutely love the place. Have the opportunity to get so close , and interact with, nature is such a great privilege and clears away any stress etc in a flash. The lake is being dredged and the ensuing silt being used to help with the current landscaping and replanting project that is underway so be prepared for slightly less access than normal. It doesn't, however lessen the amazingly positive impact a visit will have on your mental wellbeing. Restrooms: Restrooms etc are currently being refurbished and new buildings etc currently being built. Dog-friendliness: Keep your dogs on leads, no matter how well behaved you think they are! Respect this one simple rule and you will be more than welcome here Picnic area: There are various picnic spots scattered throughout the park.
Its an ideal place for a stroll around. We were not seeing it at its best due to renovation work. Its dog friendly, wheelchair friendly and you can hire a trampa there too. Other facilities were closed due to the renovation.
Lots of regenerative work going on around the park at the moment, but the wildlife is still there. We saw cygnets and moorhen chicks around the lake, lots of friendly squirrels and the odd rat about the place. Everywhere was clean and with lots of bins dotted around the picnic areas. Very level for wheelchair users around the lake, the path is compressed hardcore, tarmac and wooden bridges. The car park however is very uneven, pot holed, broken tarmac from root poking through. Not very comfortable or easy for wheelchair users, although there are disabled parking bays available. There are toilets but I'm unsure of their facilities disabled visitors. Dog-friendliness: Perfect for walking dogs on leads around the park
This is truly an amazing spot to observe birds and animals in their natural habitat. There are a variety of walks and trails around the park, with prominent boards displaying the wildlife to be found in that area. Often, go here with an individual I support, and he really does enjoy walking around here. Restrooms: There is an online WC and disabled WC Dog-friendliness: Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times
Lovely country park. Lots if walks. Parking not too pricey. Dog friendly. Loads of wildlife to see. Coffee van on site and toilets.
We found this place by accident after coming back from Trago Mills. Two minutes away It was a brilliant find. There are lots to walking tails and a massive lake full of wildfowl. You could spend hours here exploring. You have to pay to park and there are a couple of machines as you go in. There is a visitor center but was closed on the day we went. It's a good idea to grab a map from the stand by the centre to help you navigate your way around.
Stover country park is beautiful. Great walks around the lake and woods. Dogs love it too. Also a treat in the car park fantastic coffee van and nice cakes just to finish off your day.
We really enjoy visits here. All the kids like to wander around the lake as well. The walkway above the squirrels is great and so many different birds to see.
