Brilliant! Make sure you don't miss the tour. The lady giving the tour was very knowledgeable and friendly. Explained the whole bobbin making process, even made some bobbins and gave to the kids. Great and unique English Heritage site
Visit to the Bobbin Mill was very interesting and informative. You get a guided tour that is fascinating. Both guides are extremely friendly ; with a special shout out to our guide Margaret who was excellent and was very patient with my questions. Definitely recommend!!!
Brilliantly fascinating place. Brilliant tour. Would love to have seen the steam engine running. Lovely walk towards the Higher Dam after. What a lovely place to spend a couple of hours ... even in the pouring rain
The last surviving bobbin Mill in Cumbria if not in England and it still works. The factory is powered by an electric motor except on Bank Holidays then the steam power is brought into play. A fascinating place really well worth the visit. There are 2 small car parks next to the Mill and a much larger carpar a short distance alone the lane. There's also a nice walk to the High Dam, a very scenic spot where you can walk around the lake and/or go swimming.
Wasn’t open when I went but I had a walk around and checked it out. There’s a gate with a path to take you around the whole place and a few interesting places along the way. There’s a wood carving shed and a waterfall. Definitely something for the family but good for a walk! Will check it out when I can Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Just been to Stott Park Bobbin Mill. It was a lovely visit and we just arrived in time for a guided tour. It is well worth a visit and then you can be really grateful that you didn't live in those times. Health and Safety just didn't exist!!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
A brilliant experience - tremendous staff with really informative guide - all very helpful. A surprising find not far from the Haverthwaite steam railway, beautiful scenery. Thoroughly enjoyed it.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Not busy when we went, we had a guided tour. The machinery was fascinating and good to see still capable of doing the job. As a woodturner I found it extremely interesting. Must have been hell for the workers doing 12 hours a day. Several seemed have great longevity through life as well as doing the job.
Excellent place of historical interest. The tour is very hands on and you see a bobbin being shaped using the original belt driven machinery. There is much to explore in the grounds of the mill with plenty of parking and good access whether on foot or wheel.
Interesting tour , it's tour only so book before you go then your not waiting around , there are toilets, no cafe, card or cash takenVisited onWeekdayWait time10–30 minReservation recommendedYes
