This place gets a lot of stick for the quality of the statues but let's face it, if they were too good they'd get slapped with a lawsuit, so it is what it is. The kids will still love it. The grounds are beautiful and a sun trap. Great for a picnic too. The den is great, letting your little ones burn off extra energy after exploring the grounds. The entry price is very reasonable, especially if visiting the den and the Glen. The food in the cafe is great quality too.
It is a good venue for the kids. Inside the den is a huge soft play climbing area . Separate area for the little ones but just as much fun with slides and ball pit. Cafe onsite. During busy times ie weekends +school holiday you can be limited to 90mins. They have a loyalty card for midweek use only. The Glen part is a big outdoor area with character statues from old tales and rhymes , with a few modern ones too. I do think they need to spend some time updating some of it as looks unloved mostly. There is a chicken house with live hens and cockeral. I was surprised to see the statue of ' Old woman who lived in a shoe' there smacking her child ! see photo Don't think it's appropriate in this day. My son was asking what she was doing to the boy. I wouldn't go back to the Glen outside but will be back to the den inside. Need to pay for adults and children outside Glen but only children inside den.
Visited with 3 other adults and a 6 and 3 year old. Really enjoyed the Glen.. the nursery rhyme themes and the variety of outside play areas was very good. Also the toilet facilities. The receptionist could have been more customer orientated. 15 min wait to get in to the Den. Table area small and cramped for 6. Food range good with good service. Girls enjoyed the soft play. I liked the slides!
Pretty nice place. Big open soft play with chutes, football arena, climbing obstacles and more. There is a crawlers area for little ones and then it progresses to the older kids. Fairly priced and the food is also fine. You get time slots of approx 90 minutes. You should get the loyalty card if you're planning on going a handful of times as the 8th time is free if I can remember right.
This is a lovely place for younger children. It holds nice memories as its not too dissimilar to when I went as a child myself about 25 years ago. It definitely looks a touch outdated but the stories/nursery rhymes are old themselves and the kids don't care. If anything their dodgy appearance adds to their charm! There is so much fantastic space for them to run freely and the setting is lovely. Plus you get into soft play the den for free afterwards. We loved it there
It is such a big indoor space for children to play, quite well managed staff could be friendlier sometimes. Good choice on menu reasonably priced. There can often be a queue to enter at peak times
Took my 11-month-old nephew for a day out, he was maybe a little young for most of the stuff like the play park and the majority of the soft play stuff, but he had some fun sitting in the ball park and he seemed to enjoy walking around the glen. The statues were a mixed bag - they seemed to range from quite high quality to, well, horrifying. All the kids running around seemed to not be too bothered by questionable artwork though, and for adults it was good fun identifying what the different fictional characters represented.
Whilst the indoor soft-play is good quality, nothing similar can be said about the outside areas. Steep, slippery paths. Ridiculously steep ramps for wheelchair or buggy access. Nothing gritted or salted despite significant frost & ice. Outside toilets closed for the whole season? Health & safety should really inspect this place. And the statues of children's characters??? The stuff of nightmares. Compounded by the rude woman on reception. Is she there to scare people off?
This is a super place for all the family. We visited during Easter. Not been since I was a kid. There's a great big park to explore & see all the characters, a swing park for the kids, plenty of space to kick a ball. Soft play indoors and a cafeteria to grab a coffee and some food. Outside there is plenty of space to park,it's right off the motorway & easy to get to.
Great day out with the kids living out all the classics Seriously extensive grounds so would highly recommend making a day of itVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
