Impossible to actually get an appointment. E-consult is a joke. My husband tried for 3 days to use the service, only to be told his symptoms meant he needed to call the surgery instead of using econsult. When he called, he was told there were no appointments on that day and he couldn’t book an appointment for another day and would have to try again tomorrow. We gave up and found a private GP. The e-consults only accept a certain number a day and are often not accepting any more forms before the surgery even opens at 8.30. You know it’s bad when GP appointments are even more difficult to get than online shopping spots at Christmas. Avoid if you possibly can
The most cruel attention to the children. I came today at 14:00 with the 7-year-old kid as a last emergency call, with intensive ear pain and rapid temperature rise to 40+, vomiting, and begging service personnel to wait for a cancelled gap, at least for one hour. They refused, asked me to leave and gave me a vomiting bowl.
Following a health assessment I need to have quarterly health checks through my GP. 10/12/23 - Tried to use online E consult, unable to use. 11/12/23 - Called reception, to find out it’s only open in morning and to try again tomorrow. 12/12/23 - E consult used to request appointment 13/12/23 - E consult response asked to call reception and not use online form. 14/12/23 - Called reception and told to use E consult in 6-8weeks time as diary not open for non emergencies. I’ve now spent 2 hours trying to book an appointment that there is no availability for.
Phoned for an appointment for a Chest infection was told no appointments phone back tomorrow so had to go to the Wye Valley centre where they gave me antibiotics then asked for a Doctor's note for work four times told to use e consultant a very poor service
Online form to complete with symptoms. Call back promised within 24hours which is very efficient and I was fortunate to receive mine within the hour today. Thorough discussion over the phone of options, potential bigger issues to think about and a prescription ready for me at the pharmacy in minutes. I've used the surgery for my daughter 8 years old for an appointment with the nurse too and the service was fantastic. I've since seen the nurse for my son's vaccinations and she remembered me and asked how daughter was getting on - lovely to have such a personal experience. I'd give 5 stars for the service I've received so far but as we don't use it often it'd be unfair to give full marks just yet!
My experience with the Drs surgery has been nothing but positive. The eConsult is really easy to use and they get back to you very quickly with an appointment. Nurse Karen is a credit to the surgery she went above and beyond to help me with my post partum recovery I can't thank her enough. Dr Anu is also a brilliant doctor. Thank you SMC.
Was a patient for over 20 years, I moved out of the area, last year, still within 10 miles. I had asked Dr Santos if I could continue to stay with the surgery, as I work in Stokenchurch. He had said yes. But in March this year, I received a letter from the surgery, telling me to find a new Doctors. I wrote a letter to Dr Santos asking if I could stay with them until he had completed the investigation he was carrying out on my health. I received a text message from the Practice Manager, Martin Elliot, thanking me for my letter to Dr Santos and telling me no, I could not stay with the surgery and that Dr Santos was off on long term sick leave. For a Manager of the practice, I feel this was extremely unprofessional to send a text message as a reply to my letter. This is the reason I have given a one star. Dr Santos is a wonderful doctor, he takes time to listen and explain everything, he definitely deserves 5 stars. I do wish him a speedy and full recovery.
Great Doctors, absolutely top of their game. Practice is badly managed, with discriminatory policies. Abusive practice manager, with fascist racist outlook on policies and people, especially those from specific traveling minorities. Sadly, no doctor is that good, that we can tolerate such bad behaviour.
Absolutely appalling. I called last week to book an appointment, I can understand that given current circumstances it’s difficult and they have changed their rules of how to get an appt, but there is no need for their receptionist to be the rudest prat on the planet. So I did as I was told and called again the next morning to book a phone call with the Doctor. I tell the receptionist what my issue is about in loose terms and wait for my call. Call doesn't go through leaving me with a voicemail to call surgery to get through to the Doctor. The receptionist then says i’ll have to call again tomorrow for another call as the Doctor has moved on. I’m livid that they can palm you off as if you don’t matter, so i’m still in pain and now super angry. Clearly they can’t handle a call back which is why i’ll be finding a new doctor’s surgery that isn’t so much of a disappointment.
I have been registered on and off with Stokenchurch for over 30 years, my most recent experiences and those of family members has been utterly atrocious. Additionally, to which I have checked with friends in the local area to compare notes on nearby GP practices and none of them have found the same issues that seem to plague the Stokenchurch Surgery. The sad truth is that once you get through to the medical staff the quality of care seems quite standard in comparison to that in the rest of the country, but the abysmal management of the administration of the practice means that speaking to a doctor is nearly impossible. It completely surprises me that this surgery is allowed by the Department of Health to continue operating. Appointment rationing, not based upon medical need or triage but on a first come first serve basis. To get an appointment, you must phone in one of two time each weekday, if you fail to phone at this time as in 20 or 30 seconds later you will not be given an appointment. In addition to which they will place you on hold for an average of 30 mins prior to telling you that you must phone back later It took me three weeks of calling at these times to get an appointment, this included eventually phoning NHS 111 who told me that the matter was so serious that the surgery would call me back within 2 hours needless to say they surgery failed to call me back What I can only assume, given that the pandemic has been going on for over 12 months now, the surgery has chosen to deliberately mislead their patients. The automated telephone message, and the website advices patients how to access services; the advice is either wrong, the services are no longer working, and on occasion following would lead to increase in covid transmission. Separate complaints are being raised through other channels, but I would strongly urge anyone with medical issues to avoid registering with this service, it is truly shocking to have paid so much in national insurance contributions and to be provided with so little in return. This practice should be placed in special measures or closed immediately.
