Free entry, small but interesting museum. The village itself is rather pleasant, which is surrounded by canal pathways and quaint cottages.
It is a wonderful place for walks. there are also places where you can buy something to eat and drink. We will definitely go with the family to visit and rest.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Spent a couple of hours here in the snow and rain, very interesting. Warmed up in the museum and cafe. Will be back when weather better as lots of walking.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Lovely cafe inside the museum with light bites served. Lots of canal items for sale including shelves of second hand books of all genre. Great place to relax after walking the locks and the museum is very interesting as well.

We visited the canal and museum while we were on holiday it was well worth it the staff at the museum were very pleasant and very helpful The boat crew were excellent dealing with not wanting to leave the boat and was crying they ended up making him laugh and giving him a photo of the boat to take with him Great piece of work
Had a lovely morning down at the canal, very friendly and even let my daughter have a look around their narrow boat. Lovely and clean. Free parking. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Very old world and relaxing. Pond dipping was disappointing - nothing in the ponds but blanket weed. Museum was closed due to covid and the Charlie canal ride suspended - hence the 4 star. Will definitely visit again.
I first visited here about 5 years ago and there have been a few changes since then. The museum is now free to enter and is still based on the first and second floor of the building. These are accessed by stairs only, so not for those who are mobility impaired. Although the displays still give good information they have been significantly reduced and both floors have been decluttered. As a result I found it wasn’t as interesting as before, but judging from the displays and layout it has been geared towards school groups. Obviously a good idea to get younger people interested, but maybe a bit facile for adults now. The cafe has been modernised and serves good quality food and drinks at similar prices to say Nero or Costa. You can eat in, or beside the canal and there’s also take away if preferred. Modern toilet facilities are available under the building, accessible to all from outside. Plenty of choice locally for drinks and food. Also canal boat trips available too. Parking is pay and display. The final direction signs are a bit obscure but there if you’re observant I wasn’t.
