Stockport Central Library is an absolute gem! The library offers a vast collection of books, ranging from the latest bestsellers to classic literature. The atmosphere is welcoming and conducive to both study and relaxation. The staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, always ready to assist with any questions or recommendations. The building itself is beautiful, with plenty of comfortable seating and well-lit reading areas. There are also excellent resources for children and a variety of community programs that cater to all ages. Overall, Stockport Central Library is a wonderful place to visit for book lovers and anyone seeking a quiet, inspiring environment.
I've transferred membership to Central Library, because Marple's has closed. So far, so good. A much wider choice of books, a Carnegie building, lovely librarians. And a trip for coffee and cake in the Indoor Market, now open on Thursdays. I had my hand forced, when the local library closed, but it has been a change for the better.
Beautiful building, worth going inside to see the central ceiling glass which overlooks the main room
This is a fabulous library building. The ground floor is the main book collection area. There are some activities like drawing workshop and mini exhibitions sometimes.
It used to be a good library but the toilet alot of time is out of order. Kind feel sorry for staff. I would not like to work for Stockport council
I love this library.. so peace and quiet. Very helpful staff. I always go there.
Paid for printing without being notified about rubbish grey paper as they're no longer allowed to use normal white paper. I would not be bothered to go there and waste my time and money if I knew it beforehand.
Lovely place and very helpful and welcoming staff. Popped in the other day to return some book and my kids seen massive poster of Black History Month and amazing books displayed referencing to it. My kids faces just light up and they felt so good to see books about and writted by people that look like them! Thank you Stockport Library for making our day!
Amazing books and friendly staff
A wonderful gem which must be preserved! Too many libraries nowadays are plain and the study space sparse. But Stockport Central Library is quite grand and there are many spaces available for reading and studying- love it. Staff are also lovely.
