Avoid this college like the plague unless you want to ruin your future and waste two years of your life. The staff are corrupt, deceitful, and completely useless. They lie and mislead you at every turn, gang up on you, and ignore your complaints. They leak your personal information and act like they’ll address issues but do nothing until you’ve left. The qualifications are a joke—staff put you under intense pressure only to hand out the worst grades possible while lying about your progress. They don’t even guarantee you a certificate for completing your course, prioritizing saving paper over your success. Two years wasted with zero job prospects and no chance at university. Stay far away unless you want to be manipulated, gaslit, and left with nothing but regret. The IT tutors are just as awful.
If I could give 0 starts I would have given very unprofessional receptionist first of fall they treat with racism attitude very low standards behaviour and for courses no opportunity in anything if you failed your GCSEs no willingness and encouragement except their means for people who are already at higher tier.
I've applied for carpentry, plastering and bricklaying courses twice. The first time was for the Feb intake then again for the April intake. The college is rubbish with communication! They don't tell you if you've been accepted or not, the start date comes and goes and you're none the wiser. You send a follow up email and it's ignored. You make phone calls that aren't picked up. It's incredibly frustrating when you want to learn something of which they're the only provider accessible in the area, but they're not accessible at all.
Stockport collage are letting Stockport youngests who failed the GCSE’s can’t get a place because of the so call Requirements for construction courses but all the other colleges for these in Manchester area you don’t need these requirements for construction And out of 996 places at Stockport colleges they only off 4 courses with 16 placements per course to only help 74 students get there GCSE’s out of 996 that’s not even 10% , there only use this figure because they care more about there passing rates than students lives They change there requirements from last year too You would think after the Covid students from would get more help in colleges
I did a computer course there and found the notes very good that we were asked to follow for level one last year . On the whole it was a good learning experience
A huge thanks to Stockport College. The staff there have been amazing with my son on his Carpentry and Joinery 2 year course, there have been challenges with staff shortages but they have kept the courses running at all times, even meaning that the course leader Kevin has been juggling two groups. The college have been supportive and have been putting my son forward for apprenticeships of which he was successful, with this college if you put in you will get back. They have been amazing and I’m so grateful.
Applied for a course which start in January 2024 didn't hear from them at all not even confirmation email about my application, 3 days after the course started they send me email that I can enroll. If this isn't a joke college idk what is it wow I'm literally speechless, not going to bother with this college in future no point obviously is rubbish!!
You can never got hold of anyone at the college and when you finally do, they pass you on to the correct department and The I.T department haven't worked out how to answer a phone Constantly for 2 years have been marking my child as absent whilst he is sat in lesson. The teachers are constantly absent with an plethora of excuses which results in our children being neglected, then they moan if the child isn't exceeding expectations??? The math isn't mathing!!!
Does Stockport College still have an 'inadequate' status? I would imagine it does. It must hold the record for continuing to achieve this low grade, year after year. 10-12 years I believe. Trafford bailed them out a couple of years ago, but you can't polish a t&£d. If you are considering sending your child there, don't. Unless of course you dislike them!!!
When I first started this college, I was unsure what to think- I gave it a star. That was admittedly a very harsh first impression. However, as my two years are now drawing to a close, the longer I’ve been there, the more I’ve enjoyed it. I actually think I’ll miss it- my rating is now 4 stars.
