I’m so happy to have found this bookshop! I placed my order online and just really appreciate them filling the order with signed books. It will mean so much to my niece and family when they receive it in the U.S.nnI’m really grateful for the staff there that made this possible and offering this. I know the author supports it as well and appreciate this. I could not ask for a better gift to my niece. Thank you for going above and beyond! It really means a lot.
I always try to support the independent shops, no matter what they’re selling & as a collector I regularly buy Julia Donaldson books from here.nnI don’t live close to the area so I can’t get to their events or buy in person, but I’ve always found the customer service responsive & friendly. In particular Sara has been very helpful on more than one occasion & gone the extra mile.nnBooks are delivered well packed in oversized cardboard carton & inner protection, I’ve never had a book turn up with scrunched up jacket or bruising.nnOne day I will pop down to say hello & a big thank you from a distance for now.
Good, well-stocked bookshop which we visited during our recent holiday in Steyning. We like to support independent bookshops when we visit new places, and bought a good selection of cards, plus a book. However....during our week in Steyning, we had nothing but friendly welcomes and people keen to ask us if we were on holiday and where we were staying and where we live - everywhere except the bookshop. I think my wife and I were the only customers, but we might as well have been invisible. Until we came to pay, of course. Sadly, this is not uncommon with some independent bookshops in my experience, who like to think of themselves as virtuous but unless you're a regular or a friend will too often treat 'casual' customers with indifference. Presumably don't really need the business. Tend to get friendlier service in Waterstones, to be honest. Steyning Bookshop is no worse than one or two bookshops in our neck of the woods, it just seems strange and disappointing to completely ignore customers.
My children had received signed Julia Donaldson books last year as gifts and I thought what amazing presents, they loved them. I ordered some for my nieces and nephews this year. Unfortunately they were damaged in transit due to the Royal Mail. Steyning Bookshop in particular Sara has be been absolutely amazing and offered replacements straight away. Amazing customer service and will definitely come back again. Thank you again!
Called the bookshop after a major retailer w let me down and wanted to charge me double for a book that they had been selling at a reasonable price. Book delivered in 2 weeks whole process from start to finish nThis place I have been there before because of the Donaldson connection, but unlike most places the staff are very polite and knowledagable, Ordered my book and charged me the price as mentioned on book A BIG THANK YOU JULIA and my visit to collect book was as always a real pleasure, this is what an independent place should be like. People are quick to criticise but not quick to praise. Please support independents as they will always be better than a corporate. Would give you 10 stars but they only offer 5 !!nThank you again
