I took the overnigth ferry from Harwich UK to the Netherlands. It was a wonderful experience. It was my wife, 2 daughters and me, so we took a room with view. The room was very comfortable and !we had our own bathtoom with shower!!! This is a really scarce assett in UK. It departs at 11 pm and arrives around 8 am. We set the alarm clock at 6 the boat messages will start at 6:30 am to call for breakfast to see the views when the vessel arrives to Holland. I highly recommend it.
An excellent ‘cycle friendly’ way to travel to The Netherlands.nRecently travelled on the overnight ferry ‘Stena Hollandica’ from Harwich with my Brompton folding bicycle.nThe experience was great, with an easy check in to my single cabin. The overnight sailing was smooth and we arrived in The Hook of Holland as scheduled.nAlthough small, the single cabin had room to store by Brompton, a comfy bed and the shower in the en-suite shower room was powerful and hot.nThe crew were all friendly, smiley and very happy to help.nMy recommendations if you are going to travel this way, is to set your watch to CET immediately that you board, so that the early morning music and announcements 05:30 BST are not such a surprise.nThe night crossing takes a little longer, I returned on the afternoon crossing that arrived back in the UK at 19:45hrs. Being on the rear outside deck in the autumn sunshine was great too. I enjoyed the experience much more than flying with a budget airline.
These guys really don’t cater to foot travellers. In a car you should be fine, but by foot you’ll have to wait an extra hour. Then car parking machines are broke and the customer service disappear when you need help. As you can see in the picture, I’m waiting there while cleaners are preparing for the next ferry.
I spoke with someone named Ricky over the phone today who was incredibly helpful. He went the extra mile to sort out our bookings and really saved us from what would otherwise have been a really stressful situation. I'm truly grateful and write this as he deserves recognition. I hope Stena Line appreciate the wonderful asset that he is to this company
What a brilliant Ferry!nVery organised. I loved the cosy cabins. I love the atmosphere in the restaurant. I enjoyed looking out at sea on my return trip.nIt was easy to board.nThe music that sings us awake in the morning - so cute!nDaryl, one of the barman and the other staff, friendly and professional. I remembered his as we have the same name.nnNeat and slick looking facilities!
