First of all, what a lovely venue. We were 3 couples having a mid week night out, taking advantage of the buy one get one free offer. Didn’t really know what to expect. We all chose steak, 5 different variety’s, and all were cooked to perfection. The chips coleslaw and salad were very nice too. We would definitely return and are keen to go on a weekend when they have music nights.
Our second visit benefit of the doubt, won’t be going back. I had chicken strips for starters which were very dry, over cooked. For main was a fillet steak which again was very dry and ‘dusty’. We ordered two drinks each which we had to ask where they were and were told they were changing the barrel but were on their way. We had empty plates and glasses, sat there for a good 15 mins before getting up and requesting to pay so we could leave,...At £83 I/we expect far better service and quality.
Unfortunately this local business needs to try better. The food I was given for our Xmas meal was not to the standard you would expect for the price. There was a very large group of us and many had a starter of chicken strips, most said they were over cooked and dry. My biggest issue was with the steak I received. I will say it looked cooked to my liking but there was a strong smell from it. It was like cheese which in my experience is a steak not matured correctly or a steak that is on the turn to off. A few of my colleagues agreed that the steak was not right. I am not one to complain but I did take me steak back and inform the chef. I was told that all the steaks come in fresh everyday and that it must just be me approach. I informed them that others believed the same and was then offered a new meal but I declined as this would of meant I would be eating a steak as others ate dessert! I went back to the table and after 10mins I was offered a free pint and that was it! I could not bring myself to eat the sticky toffee pudding after this issue. I could also not believe the wine price!!!! A £4 Tesco bottle of white blossom hill that they where charging £18.00 for which in my eyes is a crazy price. All in all £30 for a dry starter, non edible steak and a non eaten desert you can see why I didn't leave a tip even though it is Christmas! I am sorry but improvement in customer service is definitely required!
Just back from lunchtime meal with 7 friends. 2 of us asked for alcohol free cocktails. Our friends paid £9 for 2 alcohol cocktails.We had to pay £9 for 2 alcohol free cocktails. Basically 2 small glasses of sour lemonade. When we questioned this the waitress nearly said that's the price. Not good business sense as you have now lost a lunchtime bill of £150 in the future. Also who wants their meal served on a chopping board with paper napkin under the food which rips when wet and you end up eating the napkin.
Burnt burger, somehow burnt AND soggy nachos, sickly bbq sauce. I couldn't even finish them they made me feel sick. Onion rings drenched in oil, basic chips, the only edible thing was the coleslaw! Ordered just in time for Great British Bake Off and have been severely let down. Should of just gone to the usual, even noel fielding can't cheer me up £40 quid wasted!! Reviewed them honestly on Just Eat and they hid my review so you can only see the rating, very fishy.
Very disappointed and hangry!! Took over 25 mins to take a drinks order from us and this was once we had to ask someone to take our order. Thought best to order our food at the same time to reduce our wait even further. This place promotes itself as having over 100 cocktails to choose from however we were told last night we could only pick from 5 of them because of the staff shortage. 55 mins after arriving and 30 mins after we had ordered them we still had no drinks on our table even after chasing them with two different staff members and the bar manager! Our orders never arrived and we ended up leaving without having had any drink or food!!!
Where to start... being ignored and taking along time to take orders/bring food and drink is almost acceptable when the place is busy, and it was. But the quality of the food was dreadful. Spending over £40 on a chewy fillet steak and a frozen half a lobster which just poored out water when broken open is not acceptable. Very very poor food quality. Would not recommend if you like steak and/or lobster.
Been here 4 times now definitely the best steak in Trowbridge. Had a fillet and half a lobster and just about finished it lobster was very good too! I really didn't need the starter! My girlfriend had the fillet too and agrees with me! Wine selection isn't brilliant and expensive for what it is!
Great food been a couple of times staff very accommodating with a great cocktail bar. Even when we were over an hour before normal food time we were welcomed and enjoyed another great meal well done management and staff
Great food. Had bbq chicken and ribs which was very tasty. Service was great
