OK again down to personal preference. I like my veg aldante. This was not the case very mushy but said at the end to the waiter and he said mention it next time and they will accommodate. Husband loved the mixed grill so if you prefer your vegetables not to be mushy then say at your order
I came here for a pre-planned charity event which the pub was aware of for weeks in advance, it’s advertised as a ‘pub and grill’ which is why the event was being held here because we all wanted to eat. I went to order food at the bar at 7.45pm and I was told ‘the kitchen is closed’!! How can you be a pub and grill and be packed with people for an event you knew about, and the kitchen is closed at 7.45pm? I saw someone bring food to a table and asked him, is the kitchen really closed? He said yes, I’m Michael the chef and we’re really busy with all the orders so I’ve closed the kitchen because I just can’t keep up… seriously? You knew this event was happening, you were told exactly how many people would be here, and you did no planning whatsoever to cope! It’s the first time I’d visited here, and now definitely my last… if you want to eat in Lytham in the evening, or if you want to host an event, go somewhere else… because the kitchen here is only open if they’re not too busy… a complete and utter joke!nnIn reply to the response from the business:nnIf you mean by ‘drinks only’ that no food was pre-ordered by the event, that would be correct, but if you honestly think that 80+ people are going to attend a bar that serves food at 7pm, after finishing a 150 mile bike ride at 6pm, and none of them are going to order food, then you’ve either not been doing your job for very long, or you need to find another job! As for you calling me a liar in your reply… seriously? You call a customer a liar, and then ask them to come back and try you again… wow! I would say Michael was in his 30’s, with a full beard, he was running food to tables to try and catch up with the delays after he had closed the kitchen… how else would I know his name? And what possible reason would I have to lie? It wouldn’t change my review, and you confirmed in your reply that the kitchen was closed, so obviously I wasn’t lieing when I said that was I? I suggest you get some training on customer service, because you desperately need some… I can give you a quick lesson for free, the three A’s ‘acknowledge, apologise, appease’… if your reply had been ‘we’re very sorry you had a bad experience, we failed to correctly plan for the number of guests attending the event, this is not the norm for our business, please visit us again and give us an opportunity to serve you better’, then I would certainly have given you a second chance and visited again. But instead you make lame excuses for your lack of foresight and planning, and then call me a liar… what do you think the chances are of me coming back now? You’re reply, just as your service when I attended, is a joke! Your reply has done more damage to your business than my review did!
The old Lytham railway a character period building located a short stroll from Lytham centre. Spacious public house venue offering brunch and lunch. There is an area of outdoor seating for sunny days. Good car parking in area.
Decided to eat at The Station as we had reviewed the menu, unfortunately the Posh Fish Pie was not available so decided to have the salmon. The previous week we had been to a quiet up market restaurant and had salmon. The salmon at The Station was fabulous and far better than I had at the up market restaurant and being on a Tuesday there was an offer on two meals for £18 - unbelievable value, my husband had the Beef & Ale Pie which was also good but there were at too many chips.nStaff very good and pub had a really relaxed atmosphere, with dogs allowed inside.
Been coming here virtually every weekend for either a meal or just for a drink. Situated right next to a car park it would be rude not to, and just on the edge of Lytham centre which is perfect for hungry shoppers!nThe food is well-priced and lovely, great selection of drinks and most important of all for us, is VERY dog friendly!! Puppy Dave often has a cuddle and a treat! Well worth a visit, especially in the outside area in the nice weather!
