Absolutely stunning place to walk. The sea is crystal blue. The hills, emerald greemn Parking is £4 for the day in Summer. The lighthouse is £8.50 per adult but we enjoyed just walking down to see it and not paying to go in.
Getting there down the those roads sweet child of mine. Best adive tuck those wind mirrors in. After nearly crashing 4 times we made it. Greeted by a 4 sterling pound fee. 2 port a loos where there waiting to be used for those who survived the journey or to change their pants. After the kids moaned it was windy the short walk down a tarmac road led us to the light house. Too be fair am moaning a lot but the views where top draw I mean lord of the rings standard. You can get a tour of the light house, but we had to wait which wasn't happening as kids these days won't wait for anything. Short walk back up. Still windy. Thanked the happy attendant which she wasnt left to once again to face death.
Fantastic place to visit, great walk from a pay to park carpark, beautiful views.
Nice tarmac path to the lighthouse suitable for families with children. The ward at the carpark recommended walk over the hill to see seals. This path is not for pushchair or wheelchair and close to the edge and steep fall down to the see. You should be extra careful with small children. The lighthouse is closed for public but they have some days when open.
Great views and lovely walk from car park - however check the schedule for light house opening as only opens 2 days a week in summerVisited onWeekdayReservation recommendedYes
I suggest parking at Beesands and walking to the Lighthouse peninsular and back, around 8 miles there and back along stunning coastal paths. Really, really nice walk and although no access to the lighthouse, the rocks are great for climbing, the view is tremendous and you get to see the little villages and beaches on the way. There is the lost village that fell into the sea due to coastal mining to take in too, so by parking in Beesands you'll get some history on the way. Back in Beesands, finish with some fish n chips as a reward. One of the best walks I've done in Devon, loved it and plenty of photo opportunities. Like being in the Caribbean.
Great experience with kids. Amazing viewsVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
The lighthouse is currently closed due to Covid-19 but paying £3.50 for the car park is well worth it just for the views. There is a nice tarmac road down to the lighthouse which is an easy walk down and you can scramble up the cliff at the side of the road to look back - the views are incredible and you can see the seals swimming in the bay. There's also an incredible round walk of approx two miles out along the coast line with more amazing views down to Mattiscombe beach and back up the valley to the car park. The waters are crystal clear so well worth taking a dip too!
Looked nice but was closed and no access, had to walk all the way down to find that out.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
