Story

The Highfield is a family run hote, bar and Thai restaurant situated in East Rainton, Tyne & Wear on the A690 with excelent transport links to Durham, Sunderland & Newcastle. Within the hotel we have the longest established Thai restauant in the North East with over 20 years in the industry.

This place is soooo good, I've forgotten to take pictures of the pork starter, and the curry main dish I had. Only got to take photos of the dessert I had, which was a vanilla and fudge ice cream and that's what you see in this pic and this is just £4.50! The value for money in this place is a class worthy of its own!
We had the royal banquet set meal for 2. Really enjoyed every course. I tend to compare Thai restaurants I go to by how good the Tom yum soup is. This is full of flavour.
The Thai food here are very delicious, i ordered the Siam fried rice and TomYum to try out, the portion of the rice is considered big for me and both dishes are good, the Tomyum is a bit different from other restaurants i visited in UK and have its unique taste
Lovely food presentation, good service and wonderful tastes of Thailand. Having gone back for my birthday meal, and being served what seemed like scraps and leftovers, I have changed my review to one star, although it doesn't even deserve that! I was hugely disappointed and will never return. Sad, as the first visit was so good! Oh well, I'm sure we won't be missed. Go with this warning
Always a lovely meal with friendly staff and a pleasant environment.
Despite a booking mix up by us, not them, staff went out of their way to make space for an unexpected large party. Food was great; good variety and nicely spiced. Service was prompt and friendly. Great views over the country side.
Our first visit and we were delighted with the food, the staff and the ambiance. We would highly recommend this establishment for authentic Thai food served by fantastic staff. We will be back very soon.
Very small portions, didn’t taste very authentic, green curry was very sweet and chicken satay was the worst I’ve had The other Thai restaurants in Durham are much better value or more delicious
Amazing food all round, ribs starter, yellow curry, toffee crunch cheesecake, absolutely divine
