Came here off the cuff as it looks great from the outside. Inside looks as exceptional, open log fires and beautiful decor. As you expect the menu is priced accordingly. Ordered the pate starter and pie of the day along with my partner. Felt let down by quality of the starter, the bread let it down and over use of salad.. expected more for the price. Also main was let down by rigid option that you can only have veg or chips, not both. Again for the price I would expect veg to come as standard. The food was quite bland as well, very filling though. Seems a shame that the food didn't quite live up to its image. Also staff seemed very rushed, but were extremely welcoming and friendly.

Family birthday, 9 of us seated on big round table Very good, I ordered steak and ale pie with chips. When it came the plate was so big the food looked lost , I assumed we would get veg to fill rest of plate no chance! Paid £15.99 for this and soup for starters . Expected chunks of meat and taste of ale No, got minced meat I've had better meal in a greasy spoon cafe. Will not be having a return visit , pub food at restaurants prices

Friendly professional service and great food from a really good menu. Wine list looks spot on too. The pub side looks to have a varied selection of events, including showing six nations games.

Have been a number of times most recent visit was Tues for a birthday steak with my parents. Food is excellent, the staff are always friendly, attentive & accommodating. Definitely worth a visit.

Had team Christmas dinner here three times. Absolutely beautiful food. Great service. Lovely atmosphere.
